Default PURCHASING RUM ONBOARD AND DRINKING IN CABIN-HAVE YOU HEARD?

Hi,

Someone told me that you could purchase rum (or other liquor) on board and pay an extra few dollars to be able to take it back to your cabin and consume during the cruise. I am fairly new to cruising, but had never heard of this.

Have You?

That goes into the urban myth category.

No it isn't. On Carnival you can per order rum (or other hard alcohol) through the bon voyage department. Have you booking # and room # available. It is not listed on the website and is one of these "secrets" not a lot of people know about. Once you are on board you can not get a full size of rum bottle to bring back to your cabin.

The way the question is asked, they are talking about buying booze on the ship and paying extra to bring it back to the cabin.

They are NOT asking about buying it through the bon voyage department

Well, in that case there is a tube of very small bottle of cruzan flavored rum that they will let you take to your room. It's overpriced but it will make you a few drinks.

Thanks for the replies. Trust me....I am sooooo looking forward to the little umbrella drinks!! and I do not want to run to the cabin everytime I want a drink. Its just nice sometimes if you are in your cabin to fix a quick drink. I know some people "smuggle" it on. Again, I am a newbie and thought I stumbled upon something. Just want to verify.

Thanks again!

One person I have heard of snuck an 18 pack of beer in his suitcase. I don't know how he did it.

I took 6 bottles of my favorite Cabernet wine in our luggage. 2 in my luggage, 2 in my husband's and 1 each in my two sons' luggage.

I had wrapped it in bubble wrap and never had a problem. We even used one of the bottles when we had dinner at the Supper Club. I think we were charged a minimal corkage fee ($14 or less...just can't remember what).

Oh Oh I know this can you see me eagerly jumping up and down over here. Not all cruise lines are this way. Carnival Allows 1 bottle of wine per person over 21 years of age. In the dining room the corkage fee is $10 in the supper club it's $14. In your room no corkage fee is charged. We talked about this on the corkage fee thread here is a great cruisemates article on the different cruise lines alcohol policy.
