When the election is over, it will go back up. It always goes down for some reason before a presidential election. Bob

Seems like the price of gas always goes up before holiday weekends too.

Lets start a 25 day Tracker so when the 25 days is up for Oil staying below $70/ Barrel - Everyone is aware so we can bug Carnival for an OBC. I am sure they will not automatically do this without us checking..

Oil was at its highest in July sometime around $145 a barrel and gas cost $4.50+ in California. Now the cost of oil has gone down 50% but the price of gas has gone down a little less than 25%. What gives? The oil companies arent lowering the prices at the same rate as oil declines. Who the hell is in charge in Washington anyway? Probably a guy who owns oil stock.

Oil prices bouncing today. Up $1.70. Wonder if the oil market knows it means so much to cruisers to stay below $70 for 5 weeks. Otherwise, this small bounce would be meaningless, except we were so close to that $70 mark.

So, it has to be down 5 weeks straight, ending on the 5th trading day before my cruise?? If its down 5 weeks earlier and then bounces for 15 days before my cruise, doesnt count even though it was down for 25 trading days?? It has to still be down on the 5th trading day before my cruise?

rolf. Im not holding my breath.

Last week when oil was $88 a barrel, CNN stated that the last time oil was $88 a barrel gas was $1.30 a gallon. Now it's below $70 a barrel and gas is still $3.33 a gallon. I have felt all along that we were being gouged, now I know it!!!

Oil under $70 lasted one day. Carnival wont have to worry about refunding fuel supplement. Into their pockets it goes. Oil has been low for a month now and you just know they wont even reduce the fee to $5.00 a day. Eliminate the fee in 2010? You know they havent purchased fuel for 2009 yet but they will still keep the $9.00 fee. 25 days in a row is an unrealistic time to have oil under $70. Can you say cha-ching?

By the time the oil is purchased, it takes three weeks before it is available as "fuel" on the market. It ain't going to happen folks - 25 days in a row under $70/barrel - not in this volatile market.

OPEC has said that it wants oil prices at $100, but they might settle on $80. What the news this week as OPEC has its summit.

"Iranian Oil Minister Gholam Hossien Nozari said Saturday that it would be "unsuitable" for both producers and consumers for oil to dip below $100 a barrel. He called on fellow OPEC members not to pump too much oil and avoid a drop in prices."

In the long term, I can see the surcharge going away being replaced by higher cruise fares to offset it.

they won't drop prices so they can keep fuel oil for the northern part of this country at an all time high! My budget payment on my 1,000 square foot house is a car payment. I want one moron (politician that is) to explain to me this winter why there will be elderly dying in their homes of hypothermia because they can't afford their heat or electric bills
