Imagination - Verandah or Upper?

Hi! SUCH a Newbie here! My daughter (grown) and I are thinking about taking our first cruise in January. We're looking at a 4 day to try it out, and I found I could get a pretty good price on the Imagination for either a suite on Verandah or a Penthouse on Upper. Was wondering if anyone had opinions on whcih might be better? I've heard the lower decks don't have quite as much motion, but I'm not sure how they'd be for noise levels. I've done the Scotia Prince to Canada when it was still in service and had no trouble with the motion, but HATED the inside cabin, so a window is a must!

Enjoying the boards - reading and learning from everyone! Thanks![/u]

Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

Both types of cabins will have balconies. The Upper deck balconies will look out on the water and have cabins above and below so would tend to be quieter. The Veranda deck would look out onto the Lido deck but should also have an enjoyable view of the water. The Veranda deck is just below the spa so if there is noise it shouldn’t be at night.

Either way with a balcony you are not going to feel closed in as an inside cabin might. There is probably not enough difference in motion between the cabins to make that a deciding factor. The Veranda deck will probably have a different feel since you are at a level with open decks so you’ll feel more part of the action than lower on the Upper deck. However, the upper deck is about half way between everywhere you need to be.

From the pictures on Carnival’s web site the Cat 11 suites on the Veranda deck looks just like the standard balcony cabins on the new Carnival ships. The Cat 12 Penthouse suites would be bigger.

Hope this gives you more information to help you with your decision.

I love the Veranda floor - although it was an interior room and not a suite, I still loved it. It is one flight above the pool deck and there are only a handful of rooms - it is probably the most quiet room I ever stayed in on a cruise ship
- the downside is just that everything is DOWN LOL but since it is a small ship not big deal

I agree with MSBJ, I also had an iside on Verandah and there is a door all the way forward right out to observation deck. Go aft and you come out overlooking the pool. There a few cabins on this deck and right down the hall from atrium elevators. Great location.

When the heck where YOU IN MY ROOM! rofl -

I forgot about the "secret door" a lot of people don't go that way to the observation deck.

It was great, one way out to the deck and the other way to the pool. There were some old people very forad on the deck with a balcony complaining to anyone who would listen about the aroebics class above them. I wouldn't care but they went on and on about never again and the poor designers of the ship, blah, blah, blah,,,,,, yada yada yada oy vey!

It would be better if you don't want very many cabins around you to go on the Verandah deck, but if you want a bigger room and a bigg balcony go upper.
