Default Carnival at Cozumel?

Where have all the Carnival ships gone to in Cozumel? I've been watching the webcam that looks at the Punta Langosta Pier and have not seen any Carnival ships there in a while. They must be using another dock, anyone know where?

Yes the Puerto Maya pier opened in October. They now dock there.

I loved the pier we docked at in Coz,last year on the conquest..it was so easy to get off and have the multi strory mall shopping right there.

Is the new pier similarly configured? Is shopping right there as well? We will be there twice on the back to back bloggers cruise, so we shoppers, need to know

There are very nice shops, including a Los Cinco Soles. The downside is that it is a long way from town. Upside is that it is easy to get in and out for rental cars and taxi's.

Sounds like I like the older one better..It had the best makeover, with such easy access from the ship, and now we can't appreciate it

Puerta Maya pier is the Carnival owned pier that's been there for years. It was totally destroyed by Hurricane Wilma and is just now reopening.

It's a 9 acre cruise center so it's quite large. Most of the shops from town have a store there along with the bars and restaurants.

The first time I was there was in 1997 when it was quite a small pier, but it was built up into a huge center in later years. I'll be back there in a couple weeks on the Inspiration to check it out.

Two positive improvements: 1-They are not building shops on the pier itself, they are all in the 'village' area. 2-they have built a very nice small pier for excursion use so it's easy to do excursions that pick you up by boat.

Yes....sadly our last docking at Punta was October 11th. We will miss her.
There was no better entertainment than watching the drunks run (stagger or crawl) for the ship from CarlosNCharlies across the street!!!

We will be back to Cozumel Thanksgiving Day and are interested to see the "new digs"!!

I last docked at Punta Langosta Sept 9, 2008. I will miss the proximity to Senor Frogs, Margaritaville, and the MALL!!!!

SNOOZE-Uhm, Los Cinco Soles--is that the store that had the Mexican pottery and other local handicrafts? I can only think of two shops in Punta Langosta and the one that I got the best goodies (my storytime pottery) was one that has a yellow bag with red lettering and it is across from a shop that had lots of shirts, knickknacks, and religious stuff (and pink bags)...I know, I should be able to remember the name of the shops, but I don't I just remember their locations--upper level and the first store on each side......

I'll probably just get off the ship when there in January, do a wee bit of shopping, and then walk back to the ship and shoot some video as I walk back, cuz I've yet to wlak back and shoot video if the wonderfully LONG walks back to the ship on those ever-so-long piers...(good for working off a healthy breakfast!)
