Hotel suggestions for Ft Lauderdale Port

Looking for suggestions on a hotel thats close to Ft Lauderdale airport and Cruise terminal. Preferably a hotel that has a shuttle to pick up from the airport on a friday and drop off at the pier on Saturday so we can avoid renting a car.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn (plantation). Free shuttle from airport to hotel and from hotel to the pier. Also free breakfast.

For this cruise?

We are on the Island Princess going through the Canal.

We leave and are staying at thet Hampton Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport North - free shuttle and free breakfast. WITH taxes its 148.85 for the 3 of us. Staying on a Friday night.:-) Leave for cruise on Saturday.

I looked at that hotel and somebody here told me that that area is hooker city.

I have never been to FLL, so I don't know.

Yes we are doing the Splendor B2B and then we get off the Splendor..spend the night again at Hampton Inn Plantation and get on the Freedom (8 day) with Cheryl to Colon, Panama. We don't go through the Canal....

Flying in Friday late up and out the next morning.

I always enjoy the Hampton hotels.

Hyatt Place, formerly Amerisuites, and the Embassy Suites, as well as the Holiday Inn Express, are as convenient as you can get. The Hyatt, is adjacent to a shopping area, with a super market, and restaurants. Some of the hotels have views of the ships, from rooms in the back. These hotels are on A1A, 17th St. Causeway area.

Hooker City? .......guess we will be hookers for the afternoon. ......I'm not planning on going out at night....so let be what will be. No worse than New Orleans where I am from.

Courtyard Marriott just a few minutes from the airport - free shuttle from the airport and free shuttle to the pier!!! I stayed there October 15th and loved it. Small pool if you arrive early. Not much in the immediate area except for a nice restaurant and if you're outdoorsy, an Outdoor World and the fishing museum (fortunately my husband is very outdoorsy). If you're walkers, this is a great place to get in some walking though. There's also something called the tri-rail that you can take into Fort Lauderdale and walk to the beach but if you're like me and although we took a taxi and went to Shooters for dinner (one meal feeds two), we should have saved ourselves the money and had dinner at the Islamorada Fish Market or just called for chinese or pizza. It's not worth the cost of a taxi and inner - we would have had about $150 extra if we passed on the taxi and Shooters even though I love Shooters having been there on prior trips to Fort Lauderdale.

The Courtyard has self-serve beer and a very nice bar area with soup to nuts to candy to tuna fish to wait it out til cruise time and we were leaving from Miami!! I would definitely stay there again. It was perfect for me, my husband and three-year old granddaughter.

By the way, this Courtyard Marriott is extremely conservative, friendly, definitely no hookers because it's off the the beaten path so to speak, immaculate and lots of business people stay there for their quick trips in and out of Fort Lauderdale. My only comment on the comment card was to have more lounge chairs by the enclosed pool. They have a dining area for breakfast, comfy chairs and couches and internet access not just for concierge use.

We’re booked here for December. Looks like a nice place and it’s on a boardwalk that has restaurants and shops. I don’t know how many will be open in the off season. No shuttle but I’m hoping it’s close enough to the airport and seaport that a taxi is fairly inexpensive.

$132 including taxes for 2 in an ocean view room.

When I fly out to FL in the AM and get to enjoy a precruise day in FL I usually stay at a Hampton but since on this trip I'm not getting into FL until Friday 10pm all I'm looking for is a clean place to catch a couple of zzzz's.

CQ - We are also getting in late on Friday 1/16 so I booked the Super 8 for $139 including taxes (And free Shuttle to airport/ Cruise Port . Many hotels were very expensive and already booked for that night as well..

The family and I can rough it for the night since we have 7 days on the Spendor with a Lido Deck Balcony to look forward to..

We will be getting off the Splendor that day and intend to stay on the ship as long as they will allow. They are going to have to THROW us off!!

Fortunately we will have our car so if the room is not ready at 11AM...we will just take a tour of the city.

yep...we will do the same thing. When DO they make you leave your room? do you know??? Do you still carry your bags off? Or they are just EASY to find since they are the last to be picked up..lol

STAYING AT LAQUINTA PRE AND POST FOR ONE NIGHT, BUT THEY ARE FILL FOR NOV 20 AND DEC 5. FRIENDS COMING DOWN FROM WPB ARE STAYING AT A MOTEL NOT FAR AWAY, THOUGH I DON'T REMEMBER THE NAME, BUT IT IS ALSO NOW FULL. MOST MOTELS NEAR THE PORT GET FILLED UP, BUT ALMOST ALL HAVE A PIER SHUTTLE. ADVICE: BOOK WELL IN ADVANCE IF YOU JUST WANT LODGING, WITHOUT EXPENSE. PADRE HOMBRE.

We usually do the self assist...but on the Splendor we won't...since we are not in a rush.

On the Freedom, we will because we will have that wonderful 1,000 mile drive!! woo hoo

if you go on the travelocity web site they have a great site for checking out your hotels, whether it is clean etc/. 8)
