Default Will I make my flight ?

Can't wait, only 3 weeks till I sail on the Carnival Liberty on Nov.29th. I see it gets back in port in Miami at 8:00am. Has anyone else had the experience of having to make an early flight from Ft. Lauderdale at 11:30am. I'm worried about making it through customs, getting a cab from the port, etc

That is really risky. Even if it says 8 it is when they get cleared. Even if you get off the ship first because you have an early flight then you have to wait for you luggage. After you get your luggage you have to go to customs. That might even take you till 10:00 becuase of lines and other stuff. Then you have to get a cab and drive to ft. Lau. and check in your luggage 45 min. before. My experience with an Early flight in FL is the security lines are very long. You are really pushing your luck. I really don't want to say this but more than likely you are going to miss your flight becuase you don't have enough time.

Let me add one more thing. I flew back on a Monday and you are flying back on a Saturday. there is going to be very long lines becuase FL's early flights are very popular and also the cruises coming into FL will be there too and people flying home from that. So you are being very risky.

I too, had this same dilemma and ended up changing my flight (and airline) to a 1:50pm flight. We were off the ship in the second group (#9) and the car service was there to pick us us at 9:30. By the time we got our bags and got through customs and to the car it was 9:40. We were not on the road til 9:45. Being Saturday there should not have been much traffic but there is a ton of road construction and single-lane traffic. By the time we got out of the car, checked bags at the curb (Southwest) got through security and to the gate it was about 11:45 p.m. This was without any exceptional delays (lost bags, long lines, no cab, etc.) I hate to be negetive but I seriously doubt you can make that flight. The FLL airport is very crowded on Saturday and that would be too risky.
We had time to take a break, eat some lunch and get on the plane without being frantic and rushed. Good luck.

Yes, we had the option of an 11:45 flight home ------ but because of everything you stated above, we don't fly out until later that afternoon. To late, but at least we won't miss the flight! Had the same delima years back out of the florida airport. They had 6 ships come in and out and the lines were so long, I was about to CRY! We BARELY made our 1pm flight!

play it safe, take a later flight after 1 pm..why get stressed..bring a book or an IPOD/MP3 player with you..that way if everything goes right and you get to the airport early you can relax and watch all the crazy stressed out people who had an 11 am flight booked be upset because they missed it

also if you did not check any bags (you have all carry ons), check with the gate agent if you get there early enough for the 1145 flight (even thou you are booked for the later)
