Default HURRICANE PALOMA - CRAP!!

Paloma, now a Cat-2 hurricane is focused to make a direct strike on Grand Cayman tomorrow. Grand Cayman is Inspirations first stop this coming Monday, Nov. 10th....this does not look promising.

We sail tomorrow and thus far Carnival has not altered the itinerary but I suspect they may have to.

Other than spending 2-consecutive-days on Cozumel, or another "Fun Day" at sea (God forbid) where else could we sail to (free of hurricanes of course)?

Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Yes, I looked at Plaoma's path and ANYOINE sailing this weekend who is going East will have problems. I sense many of the Eastern cruises this weekend will be rerouted, as will Bahamas sailing as well cuz they are in the path

As for missing Grand Cayman, the weather will likely be too rough to go there anyhow. I have a suspicion that they could change your course around and give you Belize or Roatan in place of GC. As for spending two days in Cozumel--NO!!! I don't like Cozumel that much. I'll be there three times in the span of a year. September was not expected as a nasty storm name Ike got in our Exotic East path and took us west.

If there is going to be a change in your schedule it could be posted less than 24 hours before you sail. I, and more than 2/3 of the ship who drove/flew in the day before didn't discover the change until we arrived at port. I urge you to go with an open mind and just enjoy yourself no matter where you go...

Carnival told me over the phone that all is a go and that they will not change a thing untill they "confirm" hurricane damage.

If Cayman has any damage, perhaps Progresso/Merida, Playa del Carmen or Costa Maya (not sure if Costa Maya has reopened yet)

A day at sea instead of a port of call is a bummer. I lost out on a first time in St. Kitts because of weather, one day after an excursion to St. Johns was also cancelled (we stayed on St Thomas).

I would not count on GC. We have been there before in nice sunny weather, and they refused us. If you do get in, it's all the better, but don't get your hopes up.

I am also watching this storm. Who would have thought this lat in the season.

Thanks! We leave for the port in about an hour or so so this may in fact be my last posting on this thread until I return - C-Ya!!!
