It's not traded on the stock market (it's a commodity future) it's traded on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) and NYMEX will trade on Thanksgiving Day: It is also traded on the London Exchange.

"Thursday, November 27
(Electronic trading and NYMEX ClearPort® are unaffected and will run on a normal schedule)"

So: Thanksgiving counts.

Take care,
Mike

I really did chock this fuel surcharge formula into one of those phone calls you get saying "Congratulations...you've just won a free cruise!"

Almost virtually impossible and only one trading day can ruin the whole thing.

Carnival's schedule is setting US up for failure. Now that oil has dropped so much, I think they should be dropping, or at least, lowering the fuel charge!!

Carnival is a business and they wont do much without prodding. I would be shocked if oil stays below $70 for 25 days. It just takes a one day spike to reset the clock. Suck it up folks.. if you want to cruise be ready to pay the piper.. or at least the oil companies..

Ok I am adding Thanksgiving back on the chart.

Also all you can do is hope that fuel will stay down, and maybe it will for 25 days. There is still hope!

NYMEX is CLOSED on Thanksgiving day. The electronic trading will be open. This is like the after hours trading on the NY Stock Exchange. Volume will be minimal as compared to a regular trading day.

-- Markets will not be settled and final settlements will not be
published, as November 22 is not a trade date or processing date.

Stupid Nov 4, 2 days into my 25+5 and oil goes over $70 by less than $1. Oh well, balconies on my cruise dropped another $100. $399 for a balcony on a 6 day cruise, sweet.

If you want to look at the prices for yourself go to www.worldsleadingcruiselines.com and click on fuel supplement update. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and that will give you all the prices.

I am really hoping this is a good sign and the fuel stays low. It is $13 dollars under the limit, so it is looking good.

Yeah you are right. I live in San Diego and it used to be $4.50 and now it is $2.19. So that is good.

It should stay under for a long time. It is $15 dollars under the limit. This is great news. I am so happy.

Kinda off topic...

Last month I paid 3.53 for diesel in East Rutherford, NJ. That very day I went to Long Island in NY and saw diesel going for 4.84!!!

a few weeks ago I drove from NC to WA and saw fuel prices change by a dollar a few times when crossing state lines.

Don't expect the pump prices to go down at the same speed we saw them go up.
Know why?

We are paying the prices.

Why? Because they can't find the ladder to lower teh prices on them big ole signs - but golly they can sure find that ladder pretty quick when the prices go up!

State taxes will cause prices to be different.

Gas was $1.80 here last week. I haven't been to town in a while so probably lower now. Hope so, I have all the 5 gal cans in the truck to fill (for the ranch).

Definitely a state tax thing....the bluer the state, the higher the taxes.

Now OPEC will end up cutting production by 1 milion barrels to get the price back up since we are under $50 now.
