Family is going on a 5 day cruise Dec 20-25. Are there any special celebrations and how many formal nights are there?

Not right on Christmas, but always just a few days before Christmas. The ship is usually decorated with a tree in the atrium, and a gingerbread house, and they play lots of Christmas music. Very festive, and very, very nice.
Your five day cruise should have only one formal night.
Happy sailing.

Same here....it's our second Xmas in a row. Last year and this one -- both during Xmas week on Conquest. Only God knows how we pulled this year off...but it's a magical time to be cruising, especially through the eyes of our boys. We are so thankful.
