Default 36 year old single male needs advice for picking Cruise

I'm thinking....
Carnival Freedom 8 days departing March 28,2009 (My Birthday is March 27th)
I know I want a single room Balcony or Suite.
Co-Worker said get 6th floor or higher
Its easier for me to leave out of Florida (Maryland Resident)
Not sure if I need a Singles Group or just need to pick the right Cruise.
Briefly..
I am a hardworker with a kind heart, but looking for a romance. I deserve a vacation, so I am treating myself to a Cruise, but travelling all alone. Any type of suggestions are appreciated. I am willing to spend more to make a better decision, comfort and excitement wise!

Here is the singles section of cruisemates. It has quite a few good article to help you and also the singles crusing calendar. The Singles Cruise Calendar lists the companies that do singles cruises and upcoming cruises. http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/single/ http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/...08calendar.cfm I hope that helps you. Oh wait I couldn't find Freedom of the seas, but I did find a Carnival Singles Cruise on March 29, 2009 20s and 30s. I have no idea about this company so buyer beware. http://www.singlescruise.com/cruises...ing_Break.aspx

what are your hobbies or passions ?...you might try to find a cruise that will have a large group already booked that shares your interest..if you are tied into a particular week because of your vacation schedule that might be alittle tougher

might also be on the look out on these boards to see when cruisemates are booked for that week

cruising alone (especially the first time) may not be as much fun as going with a friend, regardless of sex..but then again, if you do meet someone on your cruise and you don't have a cabin mate

either way, have a great cruise and let things flow..one never knows

If you expect romance, maybe single's cruise group would be advisable. I'm a single fella, 44 now but 36 when I started cruising. Cruise ships aren't the "Love Boat" like on TV. Singles are not that common. Still I love cruising in that 99.9 % of the people onboard are just SO much fun! Singles/solo don't as a rule feel alone in crowd. The crowd is that congenial ! 8) Even if you don't meet "Miss Right" a cruise ship is an ideal vacation and everyone should try it once.
On rooms, if price is an issue then consider an inside or open assignment. Some feel that a balcony is a must, but I disagree. Location is likely over-rated as well. When assigned a room by the line, I'm always put in a room on the 6th floor or up anyway.
Book that cruise...you won't regret it !!

I would suggest finding someone to go with you becuase you pay 1 1/2 the per person cruise fare. It might even be that you pay for 2 people if you are by yourself but I am not sure. If you are by yourself there is no need for a suite. A balcony room will be plenty for one person.

I have been on the Freedom she is a great ship.

I try to stay on at least deck 6 too.

Also since you desire to leave from Florida, your options are many. There a number of itineraries leaving from Florida.....Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Tampa, ext. Some go Western Caribbean, other's Eastern Caribbean.
What do you enjoy? If one is into the History Channel as I am, then the Mayan sites of Mexico & Central America are most worthwhile. If one enjoyed "Pirates of the Caribbean", then the Eastern itineraries might be more to the liking. Beaches are prevent on most itineraries, but not all destinations. Dominica for example has lovely jungles and waterfalls, but beaches aren't that great.
First thing first .....do your homework.

The porn industry usually sponsors a "porn" cruise, being single, that would be an excellent one to go on!

I wrote something but they would not print it. The "adult entertaiment industry" always sponsors an adult entertainment cruise!

Since Freedom 28 March was mentioned.
San Juan, Nassau, St Thomas, Antigua ! Those are some great ports
San Juan: history, beaches, nature, culture
Antigua: perhaps my favorite Caribbean island with they most lovely beaches anywhere. Pretty churches !
Nassau: forts, museum, ambiance
St Thomas: a shore excursion away from the pristine St John

I have not been single now for almost two years but I did a singles cruise a while back. I would that if you are looking for fun this is the way to go. On the other hand if you are looking for romance I suppose it could happen but do not expect it.

As for the room situation I'd go with a single room even if it costs more. You do not want to end up (as I did on 2 of my cruises with incompatible or in one case just plain roomies.
