Carnival is probably best and a weekend cruise is usually filled with more singles. You may want to look up cruises for singles or even the adult entertaiment industry usually does one a year! Stay away from HAL, they scew more elderly. However, don't think cruises are like the TV show, Love Boat, cruises are mostly couples, families and the couples even on Carnival are more 40's plus. It's not a giant drunk and love fest. The disco is pretty emty all the time even on Carnival, so, that really does show unless you are on a "singles specific" cruise, that it's mostly couples.
I have been on 10 cruises and all of them have been on Carnival. The one thing that has been on every single cruise is the fact that there are always single women of all ages. I am not saying that they are single as in not being married but single as in not traveling with a man. For some reason women will go on a cruise without their man but men hardly ever go on a cruise without a woman. Go figure. If you are an outgoing type of person you should have no problem in finding someone or two or three to have a good time with on a cruise. There are two places that my wife will not let me go alone. (1) Any cruise and (2) Miami.

Carnival is just an all around fabulous atmosphere. It's carefree, the people are great, the staff are wonderful, the food is good, the service is exceptional. I have met people that I will never forget and had best vacations of my life with on board Carnival cruises.
I was on Royal this summer and like them and will sail them again, but Carnival is my preference. Carnival is geared towards a younger crowd although I know lots of young people that love Royal.
Either way, I'm sure you'll have fun. What cruise did you book?
If your on a "singles" cruise on any ship line, then you'll be fine. I have done Carnival, RCI and NCL and I prefer Carnival and I liked RCI but I hated NCL. Since NCL is total freestyle dining, you definately won't develope the friendships at diner as you do with Carnival or RCI.
Carnival just seems to be the choice of more singles or at least has the perception of being a bit more hip, it could have to do with decor with is a bit more out there, more like a Vegas hotel compared to the others.

A lot of Carnival's newer ships are not the Vegas look. I think the Fantasy class is the only "vegas ships" and a lot of people say that the Elation and Paradise are very toned down. Also the Spirt Pride and Freedom are not like vegas at all they are very toned down. A lot of people say that the Splendor is like that too.
