CCL: If you ever flew from LA or took a Carnival Pride or Spirt, please fill me in. Whats good and not so good. Which may better for activities, events, food, offerings. Also does anyone know where some places on board to relax, how is the spa, best bars and what about any port excursions with this ship? Please let me know, thanks so much.
say hello now, so we can talk today
We were on the Spirit last year and going on the Pride next Sunday. Both ships are the same. What we like to do is get the free, made to order Sushi from 5-7 on the lower deck and then bring it to our room and have drinks and Sushi on our balcony.
We also bring our own booze on board. You are allowed to bring wine on board, officially 1 bottle per person. What we do is put 1 bottle in each suitcase and then carry on 1 bottle each. They don't know that you each packed one, therefore, carry 1 on each and you get 4! In addition, we pour our hard alchohol in water bottles and put those in our suitcase.
There are so many bars that you jus need to walk around and see which entertainment you like best. We enjoy the trivia games, you can either go to them or watch it live in your room and use your phone to win prises.
As for an excursion, skip the shopping tours ect...Depending what you like to do, your age, ect..., we enjoy the zip line in Puerto Vallarta. where you zip down 12 miles of lines over the jungle and then repe down the final rocks. Afterwards, they took s to a tequila factory.
I don't think this is on the tour at the Carnval ship, but google either zip line puerto vallarta or canopy tours puerto vallarta. You need to take a 5.00 cab ride into the main strip, then they drive you up and back.
Also, there is snorkling and scuba even for the unexperience and the dolphn and sea lions. Those are expensive but snorkling with sea lions is very neat. Depending when you go, dec-March you can go whale watching.
I suggest you google all of these as it is much cheaper to go directly through them then if you book through the ship line or wait till you get off the ship at the port and negotiate right at the port.
Buy all your "junk" in Mazatlan or Puerto Vallarta as Cabo is much more expensive, but Cabo is very pretty.
Take the late dining, the 6pm diining is usually full of more kids and too early to eat since there is food all day long. If your hungry, just nibble at the buffet till your 8:15 late seating.
The Newlywed game is always a must! There is so many places to sit, you need to just explore. There's always quiet places and rooms all over the ship.
Just be Mr. and Mrs. cruiser, do all the goofy stuff. We are not usually into that stuff, but on a cruise, why not!
I have been on both ships and they are great ships. They are both Spirit class ships, so they have the same layout and I love they layout and the ship. You will have a great time on either one of them. The only thing if you have young kids you might want to take them on the Spirit...
Also the Spirit is doing 8 days, but doesn't do year round san diego cruising and the pride does 7 day.
