Default Bringing on booze....

I know this is a real touchy subject for some, but just had to mention our experience with this. I believe your success with this depends on your cruise, and time of year, hence, which dictates the success of this. If you're sailing during spring break for example, you are more likely to have problems then cruising the slower season when the majority of the cruisers are older, and generally less troublesome.

We brought on 2 dozen beer and a 40 oz. Vodka. Then brought on another 1/2 dozen beer from all three ports. Actually, one of those ports we brought on a dozen beer spread over me and the gf in 2 backpacks. ALL made it to our room and ALL was consumed on board.

Now, for those of you that like to say blah, blah, blah, taking money from the cruise ship blah, blah! Our Sign & Sail account this time was over DOUBLE our first cruise and this time we brought on MORE booze! That's right, our S&S last week was $900. We had a drink in our hands all the time, had a GREAT time, and I might have been actually "Drunk" only once or twice during the entire cruise!

In defence of the ship, the 4 beer in a bucket for $20 (including tip) is a good deal PLUS they are 16 oz beers vs the 12 oz beers on land. So for every 3 you drink on board, you actually drank 4!

Many times bringing on booze vs buying on board for most people is a wash WRT price considering you need extra luggage to pack your booze, pack it well, etc. etc. I believe those provisions have a value against you.

Do as you wish when you cruise Just have a good time!

Carnival lets you bring on wine legally. I too bring on Vodka and not just because to save money, but we like fixing our own drinks in our room and sit on the balcony and enjoy it. If they let you bring on wine, then I see nothing wrong with bringing on any other alcohol.

I did...I put a 24 beer and a 40 ox Vodka in my suitcase(s) then brought on another 1/2 dozen beer in all 3 ports, actually one port, I brought on a dozen.

Total beer carried on was 3.5 dozen throughout the cruise

The first time we put a 12 pk of beer in one suitcase and a bottle of booze in another. No prob.
The 2nd time we didn't bring any beer, but we did put one bottle of booze in our suitcase and we had $100 in drink coupons pre paid for as well as $300 obc. No prob.
However I think for our third cruise if and when we can afford it, we will buy more drink coupons and purchase a bottle from carnival and have it waiting for us in our room. 8)
We didn't finish either bottle we brought last time but loved the convience of having it in the room.
Also, my choice of drink is beer and I love the bucket o' beer... I like to bring it back to my room and slam a few before going out on the town (so to speak).

I think Krunch said it pretty good. We've notice on longer cruises (less kids and teens) that the ships security is more relaxed about brining more booze on board. Like one other person wrote, we also like to have a drink in our room and sit on the balcony. We don't feel like we're cheating Carnival since we still buy plenty of drinks by the pool and in the dinning room. It's a good balance, in my mind.

Well I'm leaving in 30 minutes for the port to sail on the Pride for 1 week. In our 4 suitcases, we have 4 bottles of wine, a fifth of Kahlua and a 1.75 litre of Vodka, 4 bottles of Pacifico beer and I don't feel guilty at all. The Vodka is in a 6 pack of water bottles and so too is the Kahlua!

Have an awesome cruise. I wish I was going on a cruise this week. I need a vacation! Make sure you take lots of pictures so you can show us when you come back.

I have been on the Pride and done this itenerary. Make sure you get off the ship early in Cabo or you won't have enough time to go to the beach. The beaches are amazing in Cabo.

The other ports are good, but not the greatest ports there are.

Again, have a great time!
