Default Has anyone ever had a handicap room?

Even though we are not handicap, they gave us a handicap room on the pride. I was told it is a lot bigger cabin than a normal stateroom with a balcony. If you have had one, can you tell me about it? Also, is the desk and other items lower to the ground because it's handicap or is a
it just regular height?

My friend has stayed in these cabins and loves them. Yes they are larger.

I stayed in a handicapped room once - Did not book it for that or even realize it until I was on board.

The bathroom was much bigger and had an emergency call button above the bed - One morning I accidently hit the emergency button it was next to the light button. I had an immediate phone call from security asking if everything was ok - oops.

Thats a bad place to have it right next to the light switch.

Great room IMO. You also have assist rails in the bathroom, near the toilet, and shower area, and for some reason that bugs the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) . I'd take the room in a heartbeat. Lots of extra space!

I had one on the Victory. It was at the very front of the ship on the 6th deck (??). Because of the location, the beds was caticorner to each other foot to head. The room was a nice sized but since it was at the front of the ship it had an odd shape.

The bad thing about that room was the shower stall caused the room's carpet to get soaked. The bathroom does not have that little lip at the bottom, nor does the shower stall. When I used the shower the water ran out of the shower stall, into the bathroom and then soaked the carpet in the cabin. There was a large drain that ran the width of the bathroom entrance but I guess it was partially clogged because the water overwhelmed it. I called housekeeping and they did whatever was necessary to stop the flood but my cabin carpet was wet for a day or so. The water go as far as the bed and wet the bedskirt as well.

The shower stall is much larger with a pull down seat. There are emergency call buttons by the beds as well as in the bathroom.

This cabin was right by one of those so-called "hidden doors" that lead to an outside deck that was almost as good as a balcony because only the people staying in the 4 or so cabins along that wall was aware of that part of the ship. The deck even had a couple of benches along the wall to sit. The cabins that ran along that deck had one way glass so that you can see out but anyone on the deck could not see into the cabins. This deck is very nice at night and offers a great view of your port of call.

In spite of the flood, I would not minding staying in that particular cabin again.

We just came back from the Liberty on Nov 22, and were in a handicapped room, though, like you, we are not handicapped. When we first walked into the room we thought we were going to hate it. Turns out, it's been our favorite cabin of any we've had on Carnival so far.

We had Cabin 1003 on the Panorama Deck...basically the most forward cabin on the starboard side. The room is huge, but odd sized because of its location...it's the point where the front and the side of the ship start to meet. There is no couch--to make more floor room for wheelchairs, and such--just one chair and two ottomans, plus the beds to sit on. The beds were twins side by side.

In the bathroom, like has been mentioned, there are safety bars everywhere, and a fold-down seat in the shower. Also, there are no bulkhead stepovers to get in or out of the bathroom or shower. Since we had several days of rough seas, those bars helped many a day of trying to shower.

Though the window view we had was obstructed, it turned out to be a plus. Looking out our cabin window we could see the horizon and some ocean, but as a bonus, we only had to walk out our cabin door and turn left literally 6 feet to get out onto a semi-private deck. Most of the time we were the only ones standing outside our cabin seeing the same scenes that were being seen from the Bridge.

We loved the cabin we had, and would definiitely sail it again.

Default handicap room

we had one on legend. the balcony is enormous. It has 2 lounge chairs, a table and a chair on it. the room is funny shaped-- the bathroom is very large but i believe the shower is not seperate so the entire bathroom gets wet when you take a shower. this time we are getting a wraparound aft in january--looks awesome. have fun

Just off the Destiny 12/1/08 and had the same problem with the shower flooding the cabin. I did not particularly like the cabin. It felt like you were in a hospital room. We were given a different cabin on the second day.
