Default cruise line differences

Recenly reading the topic re: drink tickets made me realize there may be differences in cruise lines that I should know about. I have cruised 2x and only on HAL. Will I find major differences between cruise lines....such as, what is a drink ticket? I've not heard of this (maybe HAL has it and I just didn't know). Does Carnival not allow you to put drinks on your shipboard credit and pay at the end of the week? Just curious...any other information is welcome as well! Thanks

All cruiselines use the same method for paying for drinks and other purchases. The ship's card is used for everything. The differences between cruise lines have to do with entertainment, service and the food can be better on some cruiselines.
Those of us who love to cruise have a good time on any ship we cruise on.

So, what is the difference of having a drink ticket as opposed to paying at the end of the cruise on your credit? It just seems keeping up with tickets would be harder?

They are intended to be sent to the guest as gifts through the bon voyage department from friends family etc. Depending on the drink, sometimes 1 ticket is enough, sometimes they still charge the difference to your sail and sign. They actually save you money on some beers and some drinks but not on most.

Yes, on Carnival you can put everything on your ship board card and pay at the end of your cruise. The only place on Carnival where cash is accepted is at the casino.

Great! thanks for the clarification...I suppose we will have plenty of ship board credit with the fuel surcharge 'refund' and won't need any tickets!
