No more Midnight or chocolate buffet

We just got back from cruising Mexico on the Pride and I am sad to report there is not a chocolate / midnight buffet. I was told this was because people, especially from the late sitting never would eat it and that it took too much trouble and a lot of extra work to present it.

Has the chocolate / midnight buffet been eliminated on all Carnival ships?

I can't see them ditching the chcolate buffet. I've been on two cruises where there was teh chocolate buffet and it was very popular and the size of a portion and number of items they make isn't that much. The chocolate buffet is quite small, one side of grand buffet area.

I am thinking that ont he Spirit class ships they might have done away with it. I will miss the chocolate buffet if they do get rid of it..I loved it!!!

Oh no, say it's not so! I love the midnight buffet! It's all about the food man. I did ask about it when I made my reservation and she said that they still have it so I don't know.

It wasnt on the Fantasy either times I sailed on it this year. Several crew members said that the Midnight Buffet had been done away with. As far as the chocolate buffet I havent seen it in a while =(

Hey Guys,
I just got back from the Splendor and we did have the Midnight buffet on the last sea day, before Nassau...It was a Mexican/ Dessert night on the Lido deck...There was also a day where the taste of the Nation was Chocolate and it was lots and lots of chocolate desserts on the lido for Lunch...My wife was in Heaven...

As reported here on Cruisemates in September the Gala / Midnight buffet was eliminated on sailings after September 1st.

The chocolate buffet was still being held in the 'Taste of Nations'. I'm not aware of that being changed.

When we were on the Pride in early October, they had as Snoozeman stated earlier a Chocolate/Fruit buffet in the "Taste of the Nations" during lunch.

thats stinks. I always thouhgt that the chocolate buffet was a great chance for the cheifs to show off their tallents. That really does suck. And I've also heard that Carnival has done away with the filet.

When you think about this cost cutting issue, imagine how much food was recycled for the next days menu...Anyone who chose late dining, would have to be carried back to their cabins. Early diners probably made a slight dent, but this is an ritual, that really does not fit most peoples schedules.

Don't let the OP's subject confuse you. They have not done away with the chocolate buffet. They have not done away with any filets. They have only ended the Gala buffet which few passengers went to anymore. They now have the carved and fancy displays as decorations in the buffet area. All is well.

Just put the chocolate out 24 hours a day next to the 24 hour pizza and I'll be happy. I don't need anything fancy looking, just make it available

We knew the Midnight Buffet was gone.....

however, they did have the Chocolate Buffet on the Freedom November 22nd sailing.

Sadly all I could do was look....but I looked at it A LOT!!

I never go to the midnight buffet, but I love the chocolate buffet on the last day of the cruise.

Wont miss the Midnight buffet as I never could stay awake that late anyway. The chocolate buffet ,however, is another matter entirely. Chocolate is a food group that I must have every day just to maintain my robust self.

There are midnight buffets on the Miracle and one is a choculate buffet. Will it still be there when you sail? I don't know!

There wasn't a gala/midnight buffet on the Triumph in November. I thought we would miss it....but we really didn't even notice.
We never ate at it anyway, just took pictures usually.

There wasn't any Chocolate Buffet or a Midnight Buffet on the Holiday earlier this month.

Last week (12/14-12/26) the Freedom had the Chocolate buffet but did not have the Gala Midnight Buffet. It did have late nigh buffets almost every night around 11:30. As someone has mentioned, we did see the food carvings on the Lido buffet almost daily.

The odd thing about the Freedom was that on sea days the dinning room was only open for lunch from 12:00 to 1:30 and the lunch buffet was only open until 3:30. Makes for a long wait to the late dinner seating.

HOWEVER, there was a chocolate buffet station on the last day at lunchtime. Not sure that counts, but there was a chocolate fountain there!
