What is everyone's favorite travel agency. I need to find one to use but dont really know where to start. I have booked through Yahoo before and would rather not do that again. This cruise I booked directly through Carnival but I see some of you get better deals by bookin through an agency.

I used to like Costco. They discount the cruise portion (not the port charges included in the price) by 10%. Lately they added a $25 pp change or cancel fee, so they are not as good as they used to be.
Iv never had trouble with them and they go above and beyond.
LHP--I thik tat saying is reversed for me when it comes to the medical profession--Most are overeducated moroms and the odd one is a well educated and caring.
As for TA's I've been to AMA (Alberta Motor Ass) and had good agents, and I'm using the Flight Center right now and find the agents I am working with to be knowledgable--one actually worked in the gift shops on Carnival's ships, thus, she knows the deal!!!!
I got a bad one for the Sept 08 cruise. I asked about deviation and said an over emphatic YES and told them to charge the credit card on account and it never happened, needless to say, I wasn't important enough, gee is a $3000 cruise not worthy of their full attention?.....NOPE....

We are a home based travel agency. One thing you need to do is ask lots of questions. When someone asks us about getting a cruise quote we ask questions like:
Are you seniors?
Anyone work for an airline?
Sometimes there are promotions for teachers, police officers, so we ask what occupation are clients are in? There are other promotions that a good
agent will be aware of. We always offer the best rate for what our client thinks will work for them. Sometimes larger agencies are more driven by commission, we are not. We would rather have repeat business, thats what we work for. You just need to feel comforatble w/the agent and also
compare prices with the value!
We just ask our clients what type of cruise they are looking for.
The important part is to ask QUESTIONS!
If someone finds a better deal we just ask that they compare what we offer with what they found? If its a better deal then they should book it.
When you have a business w/small over head you are not just driven by profit but want to have repeat customers. Asking questions and getting the best rate we can is what works for us! We have lots of repeat customers.
Either way have fun on a cruise, its a great vacation value!!!
One thing I did find out is once you book with Carnival, you only have 30 days to change to a TA. I have always booked with Carnival but once you book, thats it. I can never get in touch with Carnival. You MUST talk to your PVP that actually booked the cruise in order to change/modify anything. If you can't reach them, and they won't return phone calls or emails, then you are stuck.
I guess I will book the next one with a TA starting off.
