A bunch of the folks in the CruiseMates group for the Bloggers Cruise booked quite some time back at the Holiday Inn Superdome, when they were running a "cruisers special". I'm not sure if they would still have those available or not.

Carnival was offering a "Blogger's Hotel Package" at the Maison St. Charles. I have no idea if they filled their allotment of rooms. You may want to check with Carnival if you're interested in that one.

Several others booked in other hotels independantly. I booked at the Hampton Suites Convention Center... as I wanted to be a bit closer to the "Quarter" than the HI Superdome.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Suoerdome. When we booked it a long time ago it was like $99 a night and included Parking (either free or $5 a day), then the price went way up to $330 a night. I checked a while back and it had gone back down to $99. I booked most of our party there and a few across the street at the Comfort Suites when the prices soared at the HI. I just checked prices again at HI and they currently have the cruise special for $99 with free parking and they have a promo that offers parking at $99 with parking for $5 a day (I mention that so you can be sure to reserve the promo with free parking). went ahead and rebooked all my reservations for the promo with free parking and moved the folks from the Comfort Suites to HI. Let us know where you wind up.

Hi, Im going another date. When I look for instance on hotwire, it shows downtown, convention center, quarter etc. The hotels for the quarter often have a separate parking fee to stay there. Are either downtown or convention center within walking distance of the quater. I saw the trolley when we were there before, but not sure how far it goes out of the quarter area.

We dont have to have cruise parking. To me, unless it includes shuttle from the hotel and back, you have to get a taxi anyway and dont save much on a short cruise.

There was a place on hotwire for $59, but then you have to add the fee for hotwire and all and maybe its not really cheaper if you also have a parking charge at the hotel.

Anyone who knows New Orleans who can tell me which areas I can look in that would be close to the quarter? If its too far away, I might as well stay the night before we get to New Orleans and go in the next morning. Im still feeling confused by the hotel choices and how far from the port and quarter they are.

Just cause it's fun. Here is an article about the haunted hotels in New Orleans. Stay in one of these hotels, if you dare. http://goneworleans.about.com/od/hot...ntedhotels.htm
