Default Places to eat in Progreso

I spent some time searching other posts for things to do in Progreso and found a few places to eat with recommendations.

To ask for the check:
Cheque please...La cuenta por favor....

Malecon refers to the main area along the beach.

I posted a map of the area nearest the pier for street reference.

More info on the rea can be found at :

Ok, the list:

Casa Isidora provides good restaurant facilities in a warm and welcoming setting. The venue is located in a beautifully restored Spanish mansion. It is run by a Canadian and American who have relocated to Progreso, and are both a fountain of local information. Once you order your meal, you're free to use the internet at no charge and they also have special telephone rates to call Canada and the U.S.
The food is excellent and the restaurant provides a welcome break from having to guess what's on the menu or having the menu explained to you. The margaritas and cerveza are inexpensive and good.
Casa Isidora is within easy walking distance of the Malecon.
Hamburgers and fries and chicken burgers and fries. Margaritas and beer.
Price: less than US$10
Address: Calle 21, No 116, Progreso, Yucatan
Directions: Just off the Malecon
Website: www.cassaisidora.com

Eladias
Eladias seems to be the prime tourist restaurant in Progreso.
They have a contract with the cruise ships, so there are sections of the restaurant available just to the cruisers.
Eladias has a house band, and there are the botanos. Botanos are hors d'oeuvres that the restaurant brings when you order drinks. The more drinks you order, the more food they bring. The drinks are more expensive than most restaurants, but since the botanos are complimentary, the prices are quite reasonable.
Address: The beginning of the Malecon

Le Saint Bonnet:
Address: Ave. Malecon 28, Progreso
Directions: On the Malecon

Restaurante Flamingos
Address: Calle 69, Centro Progreso
Directions: Overlooking the long pier on the beachfront

Buddys
Buddys is the best place on the beach. The food is great, inexpensive and the owner's are just dolls. The staff always give great service. You can set under the palapa or go across the street to a mini palapa right on the beach and the staff will be just as attentive.
The story behind how the resturant came to be is very amusing. It is on the menu. Great gathering spot for Americans and Canadians.
Address: beachfront Malecon
Directions: middle of Malecon

For a nicer experience have a look at :
http://www.xcanatun.com/
The restaurant is Casa de Piedra in the Hacienda Xcanatun
It is between Progreso and Merida.

Le Saint Bonnet gets my vote, although the street vendors may get my money next time. Love the crepes.

I have pictures, menu, and some food pics on page 2 and 3:
