Default Another question or two......

One night, among the pounding and thumping that we heard all night, around three am the other night the in room speaker came on, and a women kept repeating "Rise Star(?), Medical, Medical,,,Rice Star(not sure iif this is exactly what she said), Medical, Medical.....Does anyone know what this means? Why did they broadcast it in all of the rooms this late at night?

Also, I really want to let Carnival know about the diningroom issues, and the noises in the room all night....what is the best way to do this? Call them, or write?

More than likely they were looking for physicians, who may be onboard for a medical emergancy. On one cruise we had a Dr. at out table, he left dinner one night, when they made a coded announcement to aid the staff...Often when Drs. board, they let the staff know, so if help is needed they can be called upon.

Check out this article ....how to write a complaint letter. It's well worth a read to make it a letter, the higher ups will read and respond to....Good luck...

The Code you heard was "Bright Star". This is the code for a medical emergency. It is broadcast throughout the ship because it is considered a "life and death" situation and appropriate people must hear the announcement regardless where they may be, even if it is the passenger cabins.

Take care,
Mike

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I'm not really looking for compensation, but not being able to sleep thru the night due to constant noises is unacceptable, I was seriously dragging by the end of the week.

Also, part of cruising is the service, you expect a certain level of service.

I was also surprised at the little things. No one onboard seemed to know the weather for the ports.. How can you plan what you want to do if you do not know what the weather is? I thought it would be listed in the Carnival Caper, but wasn't.

And no clocks in the rooms, it was hard to keep track of where I needed to be and when.

I understand about the noise issue. When we sailed on the Elation, our cabin was directly below the galley (the pastry preparation area, precisely) and it was the noisiest cabin I have ever been in! I called the purser's office immediately, and each subsequent day. 5 days into the cruise, a cabin became available and we moved. It was 2 decks lower and an inside. We were compensated the difference in cost.

A letter is definitely the way to list your displeasures.

Regarding the clock, none of my cabins have ever had a clock. I now pack my own, along with a power strip!

When we cruised on the Glory, the weather information was on the TV. They also broadcast the ships position, course, etc. The time was also there, but that is the last thing I wanted to know on my cruise.
