Default Grand Cayman- 7 mile beach

Anyone have any thoughts about 7 mile beach? Is it public? I've heard it's really beautiful but can be crowded. Any info would be great!!

We go to Seven Mile Beach everytime we go to GC. It is large enough that it's never seemed overcrowded to me.

It wasn't crowded when we went in Feb. There was 4 cruise ships there that day and it still wasn't crowded. So that is a good sign. Even in Feb. the water was very warm and clear. I would definitely recommended going to the 7 mile beach.

You will love Grand Cayman. We have been there many times on our cruises. Take a taxi there about 2-4 dollars. It is a public beach once you get past all the condo's. It is a lovely free beach with some nice bars on the beach to have drinks and food. Leave some time to shop after. Good buys at the Fossil store (no taxes) and be sure to get some rum cakes. Enjoy!!![/b]

I didn't try the rum cakes, but other people in our group did and they loved them.

I would love to see anyone's photos of 7 mile beach as I'm going to take that excursion when I head to Grand Cayman in March 2010.

Also, do they have lounge chairs that have umbrellas for protection from the sun? And are they free or if not, what is the cost?

We absolutely love 7 Mile Beach! We were there at Christmas (actually on Christmas Eve) on the Conquest and it was crowded but we just walked down a bit and had plenty of room for more "privacy". The Cab drivers didn't really want to go down to Sea Grape because they said that all of the islanders were shopping because of the holiday and it was too crowded.

We were there last year (2007) during Christmas as well and it was definitely less crowded.

Nevertheless, it is a spectacular beach -- our 2 small boys loved it. I wish that I was there right now!

Have a fantastic time on your upcoming cruise and make sure that you don't miss out on 7 Mile Beach.

Try the Reef Grill. It is a beach where you can rent a chair for 5 dollars and an umbrella for 10 dollars. It's a very short cab ride away from the ship. You can buy your food and drinks there. Good place to change and outdoor tap to shower off. They have a web cam pointed to the beach and the patio and you can arrange for family and friends to see you live! It is a beautiful beach and we spent a great afternoon there on Christmas Eve.
