Really, I am....I just booked on Oasis of the Seas! For Sept of 2010. They are only requiring a 50% deposit.
It looks like such an awesome ship! over 200,000 tons...a zip line onboard, which I have always wanted to try.
I feel like a traitor, not booking Carnival again, but, well, this one looks to good to me to resist!
Will you still let me post here? 8)

Congrats on booking the Oasis! The countdown begins!!
Nothing wrong with mixing it up alittle and trying different ships/cruiselines.
I can't wait to zip on the ship either. I'll be on Oasis 1/10. Can't wait.

of the deposit. So instead of paying the full deposit they only had to pay half.
So they wern't really getting a good deal. They are going to have to apy for the rest later.

I too have joined the "traitor" ranks - sailed Royal Caribbean last fall. Don't be too surprised if you prefer the food and the entertainment more on Carnival...us two and another couple at our dining table did. We loved the ship though - definitely a step above Carnival. And with you being on the Oasis there is no doubt the ship will be awesome.
We will continue to sail both Carnival and RCI - just keeping in mind the small differences in the two.

Life's a Beach ... enjoy it on a Cruise!
I too predict you'll like the ship, but you won't like the crowds! The last time I sailed RCI was the Mariner of the Seas, and I really, really liked the ship but the number of souls aboard was just over the top. You couldn't do anything without waiting in line! It's lots of fun to do a different line occasionally though. I just booked the Ruby Princess for December, and it too is a big ship, (not nearly as big as OASIS though) but it seems to me that Princess does a much better job of crowd control.... We'll find out won't we.
Anyway, congrats on the booking. You'll have a lot of fun aboard.
You're not "jumping ship", you're expanding your horizons. I've booked the Oasis for October 2010 and I'm sailing on the Celebrity Solstice in 2 weeks. I don't have a preference for any cruise line so far. I just go wherever the group decides to go. Hey, it's a cruise!!!

Skymaster, you will LOVE the Ruby! I have sailed both the Emerald and Diamond Princess and loved both! They are bigger, but still a nice size to navigate around. I got lot's of exercise. And, I waited in lines far longer ths last time on Carnival.
I would do Princess again, anytime.

I only been on two cruises. My first was a Carnival and the second was Royal Caribbean. I have to tell you I disliked everything on RC. I didn't like the layout of the ship and found it to be very boring. The food was only ok. Tha carnival cruise was fun, always something going on. The food was good and we had a great time.

Try a newer RCI ship before passing judgement. Those old RCI ships are nothing like the Voyager and Freedom class ships.
I'm hope the newer ship are better and it's not to say the older ones are bad. Fo my likes I found Carnival a better fit. I'm looked in to Celebrity line and I'm suprised at the very small price difference between my Dec cruise and their Dec cruise.

I have only sailed once om RCCL, twice on Carnival.
All I can say is that I abslolutely loved the Liberty of The Seas, and I can't wait to cruise on the Oasis.

No judgement here. My husband and I are scheduled for a Carnival cruise in June '09, but we are taking our whole family the following June on the Oasis. Like you, I just couldn't resist, but don't know if I'll be able to afford RCI cruises in the future. Carnival is such a great deal, we will probably still sail on Carnival in the future. Have fun! We plan to!!!!

What are the major differences. We have been thinking about doing RCI but from everything I have read, they are basically alike with just a few small differences. With that in mind, I have a difficult time paying quite a bit extra for the same basic product. I appreciate your insight.
