Default Carribean sailing in October

Whats anybody's opinion about the iffy weather that may occur in the Carribean during the month of October? Hurricanes can and do happen during the fall but I guess I am asking you all is if I should reconsider booking for that month. I am thinking about the southern Carribean in particular and its a crap shoot I guess but I would hate for any major problems to occur. Should I go for it or wait until a different time of year?

I have sailed in October many times and will do so again. Carnival will do whatever it takes to keep the passengers and ship safe. If missing a port or a last minute changes to the schedule will ruin your vacation then don't do it. If you can be flexible and have a good time no matter what then go for it. Last hurricane season we were routed right behind one storm and in front of another. The weather was perfect although the ports did change. 8)

A lot of people say that a ship is the safest place to be during a hurricane becuase it can move to different places. So I wouldn't worry about that. So I think you are just fine with October.

I don't know how you are going to do it, a port everyday. I wouldn't like it becuase I like sea days. Also you will need a vacation after your vacation!

The one I am thinking of is an 8 day one. It has a 2 sea, 3 port, 2 sea which would be perfect...

Default Quiet as it is kept

October is really not a month with a lot of hurricane activity, especially as you get further into October. The worse months for hurricanes are August and September. By the time you get to October, the hurricane season is starting to die down.

If you think back, most of the worst hurricanes that have affected the U.S. or its nearby caribbean neighbors have occurred almost exclusively in August and early September. The common thinking is that October is prime hurricane season but history begs to differ.

Also, the further south you go in the Caribbean the less likely it is that a hurricane will form.

I have done an early October cruise every year for the last 5 or so years and have never had a problem. The odds are in your favor so by all means book your cruise.

One point of caution would be to purchase travel insurance (not with the cruiseline). It is relatively inexpensive and affords you a level of peace of mind. The go-to company for this is: insuremytrip.com.

Good luck and happy cruzin'

October is a flip of the coin. We have traveled in Oct the last 4 years and only once were we near a hurricane and the Captain got us away unscathed. We are looking at doing a Southern this Oct around the 18th. Maybe we will see you there.

Weather was beautiful...even if my cruise in October only covered two days of October. No problems at all.
