When you get to the airport just look for the Transportation Information desk and they will tell you which shuttle to take. Some shuttles take people to their hotels and to the cruise ships all on one trip each time they load up people. I think they charge $16. per person.
If a Carnival ship shuttle is available and ready to leave the airport I prefer to do that because once they take your luggage it will be delivered to your cabin door. You will be charged for the shuttle transfer on your ship account.
Sometimes it is just wonderful to just take the ship's shuttle. You sit down and you just relax with all of the other cruisers on the bus. What a great way to travel. Lucy

You can call Ft lauderdale and find out if they have a set price from airport to Port of Miami. A lot of cities do have a set price. I know Tampa does its $25 per cab where the shuttle is $18 per person.

The cost of the Carnival shuttle between FLL airport and the Port of Miami is $30/person each way. A private car from Go Airport Shuttle is $70 one way to the port for up to 3 persons. Not sure on cost of shuttle van. Their number is 800-244-8252. Used them before and had no problems at all.

I arrive the day before and stay at a hotel. I take a taxi from the hotel since I like to arrive about 10:30, ahead of the airport shuttles, and get checked in. Usually I just finish going through security and getting checked in when they start boarding at 11:00. If boarding is a little late or checkin is quick the chairs in the waiting area are not bad.
Back in June and October my wife and I used Go transporation from Fort Lauderdale airport to the port of Miami. The fare was $18. /p (plus tip) and worked quite well. After we securing our luggage we walked outside the doors and found the representative. We only waited about 10 minutes for the shared van and the ride took about 45 minutes to the port. It was much quicker (and less expensive) then waiting for the Carnival transfer. However, we did user Carnival's transfer back to the airport post cruise.
