Default Captain's party

Hi,

Does anyone know if all guests can attend the captain's party? Are kids allowed.... (we are cruising with the girls on our next cruise in March they are 15 and 17, are they allowed to attend as well? I was only on one other cruise before, and can't remember if kids were there or not)

Any help is appreciated.

thanks

Everyone is invited to the Captain's party. It can get a bit crowded and everyone is very dressed up. Its usually on the first formal night.

The captains party is for all guests on board. The kids will get a chance to shake hands with the capt and it usually is a big thrill for the little ones.

Are you asking about the Captains party or the past guest party? The answer to the captains party is yes, all are invited. The past guest party should include your kids as well as you, but sometimes I have seen them get picky.

One other note that I am not sure everyone knows, at the past guest party you do not have to drink the drinks they offer. I usually walk over to the bar and order the beverage of my choice. Why not drink something I like instead of the whiskey sours they hand out, the price is the same.

I must say that the past guest party on the Carnival Liberty was very well done.

Past guest parties are getting so crowded now they have to offer them in two shifts just like the captains party. Im sure it wont be too long where there will be more past cruisers than newbies and the party may have to be scaled back. Or it will 5 past cruises party or some such thing.

A heads up if this is true or not. My friend works for CCL and told me that they are no longer doing appetizers at the Captains party. I think they are still doing cocktails and also no more midnight buffets.

First of all, I would think the reason there's two parties is the fact that there are two dinner seatings--one for the main dinner guests, one for the late seating guests.

Regarding appetizers at the parties, as recently as a month ago they were alive and well --there was no shortage of, nor no end to people coming around with trays full, so unless they have stopped serving them in the last few weeks, you may certainly eat, drink and eat and drink.

Me Too !! I actually have a hard time understanding how some folks can eat a tray of appetizers, drink several drinks and then go into the dining room and eat a HUGE meal !!
I normally never touch the appetizers and usually have a glass or possibly two of wine--that's it. ( have to save room for my desserts ) Honestly, we never go to the Captains welcome aboard party--sometimes we go to the past cruisers and sometimes we don't. Sometimes it's just worth it to me to pay for my own drink and avoid the mass of humanity that is lined up elbow to elbow for a free drink or two and a hodge-podge of snacks.
But, color me the odd-ball I guess !!

i am on the same page with you about appetizers. occasionally i'll have one or two but i want my dinner and desert in the dining room.

They never used to have 2 past guest parties until recently. Before it was later in the week for 1 group only. Thats before the crowds got too big. Now they have to split shift them to accomodate everybody. As far as the appetizers go... I think they are nasty. Who makes those dried up things anyway? I skip em and wait for dinner.
