we are booked on the valor for feb 2010 our last cruise was on princess
which i didn`t think the food was really all that good but that is just me how does food compare to carinval
the last time i was on carinval was back in 2002 which i am sure the food has change since than
I was really impressed with the food on the Triumph last May, and I was dissapointed with the food on the Crown in October. The best food we had on the Crown princess was at the Crown Grill and there was an extra charge. I know food is objective, but I like Carnival and Holland better then Princess. I haven't been on Celebrity since 2005, but their food was also very good the two times I cruised on one of their ships.
The last 2 cruises have been on Fantasy class Carnival ships and I have not been impressed with the food overall in the dining room... some was good but some was either way overcooked or undercooked or just plain bad. Desserts were right on!
The overall food on the Lido was better than the dining room.
Having said that a cruise back in 2003 had some of the best food ever.
I hope there is not a continued general industry wide drop in food quality. It does seem to be more of an issue though.
We too just returned from a cruise aboard "Triumph", and I can honestly say the food was the best of any Carnival ship we've sailed. Carnival food in general has gotten much much better in the last two years. Having said that, Princess food has always been good, but not great. I'd say that the dining room food is better on Carnival, but the buffet food is better on Princess.
We just came from Valor in January and the food was excellent. The last time I was on a Princess ship was in the late 90s and the food was pretty good as well. I think Carnival has a bit of an advantage.
Monarch of the Seas 3-92
Celebrity Century 7-96
Dawn Princess 2-97
Enchantment of the Seas 11-98
Rhapsody of the Seas 8-99
CCL Inspiration 8-08, 8-11
CCL Valor 1-09
CCL Glory 11-09
I believe the food on Princess has more variety but the food on Carnival is excellent and I would rate it at the top of just about all the cruise lines that I have sailed, and I've cruised most of them, except the luxury lines such as Regent and Silversea.
I know you won't be disappointed.

We have only been on one Carnival cruise and that was November 2008. We were surprised as was everyone in our group of ten. The food was actually very good. We had just come off a 33 day Holland America Cruise and that food was several levels below the food on the Carnival Miracle. We have also cruised on three of the Princess ships and we believe their food is just a notch above that served on the Carnival. Both are definitely better than that on H.A.
