Cruise was OMG Awesome. Yes there was a dancing Speedo guy straight from Bari, Italy and I have pictures of the dance.

A few drinkers or should I say drunks around the ship.

I was well behaved as usual!

Did anyone else catch the part about tequila being invented by people who practiced human sacrifice? So, no need to wonder why it affects us the way it does!

Yes, Tequila is not your ordinary booze. Their are certainly mind altering properties at work. It is not for the novice drinker.

I once drank a half gallon of mescal with 2 worms in it.... well me and a buddy did. In the pouring rain of some god-forsaken part of Texas - mud everywhere and the tent leaking... we drank that whole bottle - split the worms - and for about 6 hours I was on the most beautiful California beach.... then I woke up in a mud puddle with Vo$%t soaked clothes and right next to me was my bud... Man were we a mess... and had a sgt. screaming at us the next morning. It took me 20+ years before I could even SMELL the stuff without gagging. I tells ya... that STUFF is wicked!

That was camping courtesy of the federal government... The squadron I was in was Combat Construction and we lived in tents til we built something and then most times what we built was not "barracks"....
We had a day off from about 3 weeks straight and had "smuggled" in the bottle... man was the sgt. pissed!

The worm
Main article: Mezcal worm

The worms as served at Restaurante Villa Maria in Polanco, Mexico City. The "worm" (sometimes more than one) commonly seen in bottles of mezcal is actually the larva of one of two kinds of insects. The most common type is that of the agave snout weevil. [1] [2] The "red worm" or gusano rojo is the caterpillar of the Hypopta agavis moth, one of the several kinds of "maguey worm", found on the agave plant. (Agave worms are sometimes found in the piña after harvesting). Many brands contain such worms. Some are named after the worm itself, as in Gusano Rojo and some are even named for the number of worms, e.g. Dos Gusanos, "Two Worms". Inside the mezcal, however, the worm is more a marketing substance, as it has lost its nutrients inside the bottle.

Although the custom is relatively recent, larvae are used frequently by several brands of mezcal to give flavor to the drink. A whole larva is deposited in the bottle, normally after having previously been cured in pure alcohol. It is not known exactly where and when the practice was originated; supposedly it was Jacobo Lozano Páez, the embotellador of Matatlán mezcal, who first introduced the practice of adding larva to mezcal.

There is nothing to support the widespread myth that the worm contains hallucinogens or aphrodisiac properties.

When a worm is included, the mezcal is known as con gusano ("with worm"). Aside from its consumption with mezcal, the maguey worm is considered a delicacy in Mexico and can be found on restaurant menus throughout the nation.

The use of the worm is exclusive to mezcal, since the Mexican standards authority, Norma Oficial Mexicana (NOM), prohibits adding insects

Samantha Brown sipped.. let me repeat sipped a tiny portion of tequila while in Cozumel. They gave her 3 tiny shot glasses that she didnt empty even 1/4 of the way on any of them. Granted she had a show to film but damn Sam... down it baby!

I do remember that now. They had a hut or something on the beach and poured her some tequila. I would drink Tequila with Samantha Brown anytime. 8)

Well, that's good. However, with all the tequila goodness involved, I'm leaning more towards the whole "free travel and free cruise" thing!

I know right! I was just trying to stay on topic. Not only free travel and cruises but one of her shows was "Great Hotels"! Imagine being put up in 5 star hotels all over the world. She's only 28 years old! How did she land such a sweet gig? Oh, I better mention something about tequila just to keep it real!

I can honestly say I have never drank enough of anything to not know what I was doing...

And anytime I've had tequila it's not been a junk ton of it...

I feel so educated now....We have learned so much about Tequila on this board ! 8) Some stuff we might be better off NOT knowing about.
