Default Aft Oceanview

Carnival has created category 6D (may vary by ship) that is an aft oceanview cabin. I can see the advantage of the aft balcony cabins (different thread) but what do you think of the aft ocean view? I'm not seeing that much of a benefit, plus since they are on deck two you or closer to the engines.

Any thoughts?

It is pretty much just another low priced option to justify a price hike for a different location on the same deck or on higher decks. If you ask me they need to simplify the main cabin categories to SI(Single Inside), SO(Single Outside), I(Inside), O(Oceanview), and B(Balcony), while keeping a more varied price structure for Suites and Penthouses.

I agree. I don't see an advantage at all. In fact I would avoid.

I mean let's face it. Businesses are doing anything they can to seperate the consumer from their money now, though if they would have given more options to spend on board I could at least get behind that.

I like to be able to see the ocean aft or otherwise. I do however prefer a midship cabin.

I asked this question over on another cruise board and from the response I got, it seemed like this stateroom category was a little more since you are in the back of the ship and are basically paying for the view. We are booked in #2474 on the Valor which is has a different configuration to the room so "feels" roomier.
