For those booking a guaranteed cabin - balcony, OV, or inside - how far ahead will Carnival start assigning cabin numbers? Is there any rhyme or reason to it? I am 70 days out - cruising on May 4th. I am just curious is all.
We did the oceanview guarantee on our first (and only) cruise and called them about 3 weeks before we were set to cruise and they said the cabin assignments had just been put in the day before. So call about 3 weeks out and see what they tell you.
I was impatient as well. I wanted to know where I was going to be!! I ended up in the front of the boat (5th room from the front) on the port side but on a high deck. So I guess at least I wasn't in the very bottom of the boat.
I believe we're doing the same this time, getting a balcony guarantee.

Yeah, it seems like forever waiting. This is the first time I've booked a guarantee cabin. The last three cruises I went on, I booked a specific cabin. It will be interesting to see what deck and where the cabin is located. I think the upper deck is the lowest balcony level (8A) on the destiny and I'm fine with that, otherwise I wouldn't have booked a guarantee, but it's always nice to get a higher deck level.
You can check online to see if you have an assignment. I have seen rooms assigned 120 days out and some not assigned until you get to the pier. You just never know. To me its all part of the fun wondering where you will end up.

On CC there was a thread about how you could "check" to see what you were assigned.... but it involved trying to buy something on the Bon Voyage dept. You had to put in name and ship and then start with the lowest cabin you could be assigned and start plugging in cabin numbers in. Tedious but if it allowed to to purchase something for that cabin then it's the one assigned to you.
I think it worked that way but not sure.... lot of work.
I have only booked a suite "guarantee" and that was with 4 in the room... on a Fantasy class ship it can only be a cat. 12 as the cat. 11 holds 3 max. So we got the cat. 12 cheaper.
our las cruise on the Liberty which was Feb. 7th this year, Our room assignment was about 60 days out. You should be getting close to getting your room.
You I think will love the Liberty, we liked it so much we booked another cruise on her while onboard...
