Hey, Scurvy Dog! How are you and Kay doing? Don't you have a cruise coming up pretty soon?
Regarding the question about a hotel package, I'll be glad to check on that, when I make my trip to Galveston.
Does anyone have ANY idea how many people may be going in a day or so early? Maybe as many as 10? Anyway, I'll see if anyone is willing to work with us.
Hi Darlene
Yes we just got back from a 10 day trip to the Caribbean spending a week on the Canadian ship S/V Caledonia. Really had a great time but need to stay home for a while to rest.
We would be interested in coming in a day early if it we can get a group together.
Scurvy, glad to hear you and Kay had a great cruise. Carole and I are planning to come down for the January 17th cruise at least the day before. If there is more activities, we could arrive sooner. The group is talking about a pre cruise dinner, that sounds like fun. Carole and I are looking forward to seeing every one again. Take care, Mike

I am pretty sure we'll come down on the 15th. I understand Galveston has a Schlitterbahn that is enclosed during the cooler months and I would hate to miss the chance to spend a day there. I have wanted to do that for a very long time.

I believe it is next to Moody Gardens, too.
That might be a good place to try to get a hotel deal.
PRE AND POST CRUISE SHIP PACKAGE
Includes a luxurious room for one night, breakfast for two, either in your room or in the Terrace Restaurant, parking for your vehicle during your cruise and transportation to and from the cruise ship terminal
Sunday- Thursday $227
Friday or Saturday $250
Maybe work a deal to get it Sun-Sat for $180 pp or better?

Were planning on going in at least a day ahead-- I did ask a friend and from what they say--1 day near the pier is fine---- not like New Orleans
Cheers all

The return airport shuttle is pretty good if I recall. You can tour NASA and then they drop you at the airport if your flight is late. Seems like a good option.
It's the getting there that is more difficult of the two as people come in at different times.
Ok so I have a question---while checking at what' listed for this group cruise it lists a "shared cocktail party" guess what I'm trying to ask is who are we sharing it with ?-------
Cheers

If we have enough in our group we won't have to share with anyone.
Nah, we'll get an assigned locaction with an open bar and if there are other groups we'd probably share that time with them. Very common, we did it on the Rehab cruise on Fantasy. We'll make sure WE meet at the bar. Closer to the drinks.
I have not started looking at air yet. I am hoping it is a little better than New Orleans price wise and direct from SFO. I am not sure yet how many days we will be there. It will be determined by group activities., site seeing, bar hopping etc. I know nothing about Galveston. Mike

Same here Mike. The group or planned activities will determine when we arrive. Way to early to worry about airfare. I will pick it up later this year when AirTran is having a sale.
Hey, I guess that you can include Peggy and me on this cruise. We usually drive down a day ahead and stay at the Beach Front Best Western where they provide free parking for the cruise.
Dar, it will be nice to meet you along with all the others who I have met on chat. Kat, you really need to book this one. It should be a lot of fun!
Today Jessie (The Butterfly) commited to going with me on this cruise, tomorrow I will change "TBA" to her name. The news gets even better, her real mom, Patti, wants to go too and so does another friend Kathy. Things are looking up. I wish it wasn't so far off, I'm ready to go now!
I'm excited about this cruise - although I'm not officially booked with the Cruisemates group (I booked before the cruisemates got one together)
I know for a fact that there is a large contingency from NE Kansas going to be on board and a good number of those coming love to PARTY!!!!!
and guessing from what I've read about Cruisemates I'm sure there's an equal number who love to PARTY!! as well!! As, I said I'm really excited about this one!
Bahama, I'm so glad that I'm going to get to meet you...... IN PERSON! yaaaaaaa! It is going to be a lot of fun. I booked an inside cabin and REALLY want to change my booking.

I'm working on the hubby. We have credit points, so I wouldn't book the group cruise. Which is to bad cause Nancy is a great TA. But I can get $800 off the cruise booking through the credit card company. So a 4B would be really affordable for us. It's just the extras like, airfare, pet sitting, and airport transfer that increase the price. I would probably book the nonstop into Bush (IAH) instead of Hobby, because I could get there sooner. I'm not sure how to get from the airport to the hotel. But I see some other west coast cruisers so we maybe on the same flight. I know Csis ran into west coast cruisers on her flight to New Orleans. I'm out of Sacramento, but I can get to SFO if the air fare is cheaper.

Kat: Is it a SeaMiles by chance? They now allow you to book with your own agents (as long as the agent is approved). If not Nancy mentioned that you could just pay for the group benefits extra, not sure if that included the OBC or not. I'd check with her.[/i]
April, are you and Michael doing the B2B starting January 10th. Carole and I want to thank you for the great idea. Wwe have never been to Key West or the other two stops sounds great to me. Take care, Mike

For those coming into Galveston early, here is a hidden gem in Galveston, The Grand 1894 Opera House. They don't have their 2009-2010 schedule out, yet, but it is a wonderful place. Very old, very historic, and they really bring in some good entertainment.
I just booked this fun cruise with Nancy. Looking forward to seeing all of you again that were on Fantasy earlier this year and meeting new CM's going on this one.
I will be driving to Galveston as it's an easy days drive from HSV, AR.
