Sneaking alcohol on board.....

I have read about people sneaking alcohol on board. What happens if you get caught?

They take it away and leave a note in your suitcase to come down to the pursers desk and pick it up at the end of the cruise.

Hmm...Dave has this happened to you before?
We snuck some Capt. Morgan and 2 bottles of Jager on our last cruise and no one said a word. The steward even asked if we wanted any of it kept on ice!!!

It happened once. But they only got one bottle. My 18 beers in the other suitcase made it. Only time I have had an issue and it was during spring break. Many other times no problems.

Barf. Aluminium bottles. It seems like my beer never stays cold in those. The bottle itself is cold but it just seems like the beer is always warm. Yak.

Like Dave said unless its Spring Break season, I doubt you will have any problems. Heather and I always pack a few 5ths in each of our suitcases and have never had a problem. And rememeber you can just carry bottles of wine on in your carry on. I believe it is 1 bottle per person, but I took 4 last time and nothing was said. Good luck.

Exact same thing happened to me. I've never had a problem taking a little extra Captain Morgan on any cruise EXCEPT for spring break week. They had extra security on to watch the youngsters and they scanned all the bags. I had extra diet coke in plastic bottles and they wanted me to come down to security and open my bag for them. They also told me of all the sneaky ways kids were sneaking booze on board. The water bottle trick was the most common. BTW--They actually didn't find mine, the dozen coke bottles threw them off.

Exactly the thread i was looking for, this gives me hope...

I pulled the listerine bottle of vodka on my last spring break cruise and made it fine, vodka had a hint of mint flavor, but it worked...As it worked out, my buddy put a handle in his suit case and was fine...

Hopefully the end of march will be far enough after spring break that we won't have any issues this year...

So while we're on the topic, Tips and suggestions for what I can bring, or best ways to do it?

I'm assuming someone had an extra bag to get all of that on, Dave?

Actually, that was my cabin 7388 aft corner Mariner cruise Spring Break 2007. So it was 7 days. I do believe I was able to consume it all with a little help from my friends.

had the one right above it last year 8390. It was more open but not as big as 7388 or 7688. Great location. I took the hidden stairway up once and cam out in the kitchen of the Windjammer

The thing about Jager is, you don't really realize you're drunk until you look at the bottle, realize you've drank THE WHOLE THING, then stand up and BAM!! Your face meets the floor and you're already on a first name basis.

Another issue i just realized, we are flying to Miami and will be taking a shuttle or cab to the Port, I highly doubt there is a package store on the way?

That being said, we'll have my suitcase for a bottle or 3 and my g/f's suitcase, my assumption is that hers will be too packed though...Will my cary on be searched (can't remember but i think it was?)...

Last cruise we had one suitcase that had a 12 16oz cans beer/12 cokes/8 water(real water)/20oz rum,vodka,bailey's,sweet tea,and tuaca.... and it was 4 days...

So what i'm gathering is that i can basically take what i can fit in my suitcase, haha.

We have a 5 day cruise leaving March 28, I'm shooting for at least an 18 pack and a handle i guess, can't imagine that would be a problem based on all of the "smuggling" you guys have done to pave the way.

Your carry on will be checked, both at the airport and checking in at the ship.
Now, I rarely drink and hubby is not a heavy drinker, thankfully. But, he does like an occasional drink at night. So, one cruise, he bought two bottles of Gatorade. He drank one and kept it, then put a little Gatorade in the empty for appearances, filled it with vodka and put it in his suitcase (well wrapped). So far, so good. We get on the ship, that night he pulls out his "stash" and low and behold, he packed the bottle with nothing but Gatorade in it!

A handle is a half gallon. Name comes from the fact that some actually have a handle on them.
