Does anyone know if the Splendor has arrived to LA?

We sure hope not! We're leaving in less than 24 hours to meet the Splendor in Santiago, Chile on March 3. The ship will not arrive in San Francisco until March 21. I would expect it to reach LA soon after that. Please don't try and do anything to get the ship there any soon. Thanks!

I am counting down, but don't worry I won't send the Splendor to LA sooner. I am just wondering if LA is ready for a ship this size.

Her first sailing out of Long Beach will be March 31st for a 5 day cruise, then on April 5, she starts her normal 7 day cruises. Someone asked if the West Coast is ready for a ship this size, I will tell you, we have been ready for a long time. Although we fought to keep the Pride here, we will welcome a new ship (although personally, I do not consider her new anymore, she did not come directly here from the where she was built), but it will be nice to have one of the mega ships on the West Coast.

Splendor fever is catching
8) I just booked a trip on her for NEXT year, going to Mexican Riviera. 8)
She sounds like a more upscale class of ship. According to Carnival's sales people she is more elegant than the Conquest class. Both Cruise Travel and Porthole magazines named her their ship of the month. The pictures were SO pretty ! They offered me an early bird, past guest rate and I TOOK it.

Congrats to all on your bookings... I can not wait.
Although I don't have much to compare the Splendor with.... first we had the Paradise, then we upgraded ourselves to the Pride... (both ships are wonderful, but the paradise seemed a little more used if you will )

Now, we are on the Splendor... did I mention... I CANT WAIT!!

Were booked on the Splendor for June 14th out of Long Beach. This will be our third cruise. First was out of Galveston, don't remember the ship's name. Second one was Valor out of miami to the western caribbean.

Hoping carnival upgrades me from an oceanview to Balcony for being a past guest. I am tired of being in the basement.

Yeah, my sis and I made our first mistake by getting a good deal on an upgrade from balcony to cat 11, and now.... well you know.
We are spoiled and can't live with anything less than a balcony.

There's someone on this board who always says... and I'm not quoting because I can't remember extact words....
Any cabin on ship is a good cabin as long as you are cruising
I don't knowit's something like that.

I sail on her Sept 16, but I think I one-upped everyone. I have a spa suite....Well, I do have a special reason to have a spa suite and not just a Lido deck balcony...I want to spoil myself rotten so I can say bye bye to my 30's and Hello to 40's!!!!!

I don't know if I will use the steam rooms, I am not a wee tiny babe, not at all. I will use the thalasso pool!!!

Hey Angel....
Okay so you barely "one upped me" becasue my sis and I have the spa balcony just one upgrade away from a suite...
But I'm going a week before you, so I guess we are even...

The Splendor is due to dock in S.F. CA. on 3/21/09. We have several friends on that cruise, that started in Santiago, Chile.

My wife and I just got off the Splendor less than 10 hours ago. We boarded the ship in Valparaiso (Chile) on March 3. We had a great time and loved the Splendor. I hope to post a review in the near future along with some pics.

I'm really interested to hear any Splendor news too..

Like Thoth, I'll be sailing on her NEXT year ..Feb 28 10.

Heard lots of good things so far!

We were originally booked in two spa suites. Something weird happened with the travel agent my aunt is using (she's in charge of the arrangements) and we are no longer on that deck. We have a balcony suite and two adjoining balcony staterooms (?..I'm probably screwing up my terminology here) on another deck and I can't remember which at the moment.

We have a balcony. We'll be on a cruise. I'm all good.

But the more I hear about the spa deck..

Just got off the Splendor last week after 49 days arround South America and we experienced everything to include a bomb scare in ft Lauderdale in which we had to evacuate the terminal and were herded across the street for several hours and did not board until eight in the evening The next major event was a man jumping overboard to end his life and we spent 10 hrs.going back to look for him At least 3 deaths on board to complete the excitement. You will love the ship and the food was top notch and the shows were great and do not miss the production show Vroom as this is one of the best i have ever seen. The work out room needs a larger space however never needed to wait that long for any machine. If you like pizza make sure you try the goat cheese and mushroom. The rooms are quite large however balcony rooms do cut into the size meaning that outside rooms will have a little larger space. If anyone has any questions fire them at me. Also would suggest that you you request Black Pearl restaurant as Golden Pearl at back of ship with much more vibration Try the rotisserie chicjken which is servrd daily above the Lido. The sushi bar is open each nite and twice weekly they have tapas not to be missed to include mussels all you can eat before dinner.

Did not eat in Lido that much however fish n chips were on lunch menu one day in the dining room.Spa pool had very few uses and probably due to costing a great deal. When you have over 3000 mostly elderly people on a 49 day cruise you will have many of them sick and we were one of the lucky ones having only one bad day from food poisoning on eating cirvichie [sp] in Equador which was our fault.
