Hi all! This will be my 3rd cruise but my first in Port Canaveral. We are landing in Orlando and have purchased the Carnival transfer to get to Port Canaveral. Any tips on embarking?

I have never done the transfer as we drive down but Port Canaveral is one of the easier ports... Carnival has dedicated piers/ports for their ships and it seems to go smoothly. I think the transfer bus does check in your luggage and you don't see it again until it's delivered to your room, and on the way back it's the same... you see it at your home airport.

Get your luggage at Orlando and look for somebody in a Carnival shirt. They will direct you to where the bus will pick you up. You give them your luggage and begin to enjoy your cruise. Once you arrive at the port, porters unload the bus, you take your carry on lugguage and go through embarkation as you always have.

Yep, Port Canaveral is second only to Tampa for ease of embarkation IMO. They generally have all their "ducks in a row", and it goes rather smoothly. You'll be aboard before you know it, drinking those "foo-foo" drinks, and dancing the lambada.
Have a GREAT cruise.
In Orlando or near the port? Orlando is 50+ miles from the port.

It depends on what you want to spend. There is a Ron Jon's Resort almost next door to the cruise terminal. Use your favorite travel search engine and look at Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral. Most hotels are on A1A, the higher the address the closer it is to the port. You would have to take a shuttle over to the beach from the airport and most hotels have a shuttle to the port.
And check out the Embarkation/Disembarkation Ports thread for more information.

The only tip I have to embark is dont fall off the gangway unless you are wearing your bathing suit and flippers!
