Default Info on a 1A cabin???

What exactly is a 1A cabin?? Are these cabins super tiny or are they in a bad locations? Are they noisey??

What is better to go with a 1A or a Guar.?

Some of the good (secret) 1A's have been reclassified during the recent cabin re categorization by Carnival. Still a few good ones with port holes. 1A's are a good choice for the solo cruisers.

Mary, from what I am finding ALL 1-A cabins are interior with upper and lower beds. A few scattered on the Riveria Deck, the Main deck has most of the 1-A up front in the bow right under the theater stage area, then some are scattered on the Empress and Upper deck.

This is the same on the Glory, Freedom and Valor.

If you want at least a port hole you will need to go with a 5-A. This info is all from carnival site with all the new re-catorization (is that even a word??). 5-A is only on the Riveria deck and the Main deck and only a few of those cabins.

Cat 1-A discription.
Upper and lower bed, television, private bath with shower, safe, mini bar, phone, television, sitting area, hair dryer.

Avg sq ft cabin: 160

I have some photos of the 5-A I got off one of my cruise sites.

Thanks Vicki, I don't care about a port hole I just need a cabin where I can catch a few zzzz's for a couple of hours during the nite.

I guess the ones under the theater stage might be noisey but then again the shows are not going on during my sleep schedule.

A 1A might work out well for me.

Thanks

Are you jumping ship? I was in a 1A on Sensation. Insode one lower one upper which made more floor space. Was fist cabin nearest midship elevators on Upper deck. Worked for me. 8)

I learned last year that some 1A cabins - while still being an upper/pwer berth room - can also have one or two portholes. I was booked oin such a cabin on Imagination for June 2008 cruise that I had to cancel as I had to move.

So you may want to ask if there are any such cabins available as I"m sure they are asked for often.

I'm now booked on an inner/inner cat 1a on Imagination a year from now, which also upper/lower betth, but no window, and it's in a tine hallway in between the port and starbord "inside" staterooms, on the Empress deck. I don't mind not having a window as I don't p[lan to be in the cabin except to sleep, shower, and dress for the day.

I'd rather be out on the deck looking out at the ocean, than in my cabin, anyway!

Book a 1-A GTY. That way you will probably get upgraded to at least 4-A and sometimes even better than that, but you still only pay for a 1-A. I usually go for a 4-A GTY and almost always get upgraded, but at least we are assured of a king size bed, (the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) doesn't go for an upper/lower) although, if you look carefully at some of the deck plans, there aren't any upper/lower cabins.

Ken and all,
Even in the 1A's, the cabin steward can bring in a bed and create a kindsize. Been there, done that!

The 1As are about 10 sq ft smaller but have more floor space due to having twin sized beds(one upper and one lower), though some have a sofa. There are a few inside 1As on the Upper and Empress decks normally, though the majority are on the Main and Riviera decks, both the inside and outside 1As. I consider the ones on the the outside to be actual outside cabins due to location though they are classified as inside. Not really a bad benefit since you get a view through the portholes, if somewhat limited, at a price less than a 4A cabin(standard inside lowest category).
