Hey guys - I know I have read that some of the ships have the adult only pool area. Has anyone ever been to this area? Does the Fascination have this area?
Don't get me wrong - I love kids... but mine are teens and I am thru with listening to the whining, crying and screaming. ( Only when the husband is sick do I hear this... haha! )
The Fascination does not get the "Serenity area" until drydock later this year... having said that the pool/hot tubs at the back of the ship are "supposed" to be adult only and the hot tubs state so... but it rarely enforced. The best place I found to get away from the teens is the $25 black jack table...
Inspiration has been through "refit" and does have the Serenity area. VERY NICE, but small. Nope,,,,Carnival used to have a topless area around the funnel, but every ship I've sailed within the last year or so has resigned this area to just a regular sunning area, and NOT a topless area. I used to have to go up there to make sure the lovely Mrs. Jones (VIta) wasn't there, but all I ever saw were the Carnival Dancers getting a tan.
No pool on the inspiration adults only area, the rest of the ship was over run by kids and drunken spring breakers... all hours night and day, screaming yelling and generally raisin' hell even banging on our doors at 3:00am. I have 5 kids, do not get me wrong but this was my vacation from that!! So I got a break from my teens and college kids only to put up with others who had little regard for others..... was my first cruise, wish I had not booked during spring break. The rest of the cruise was great.. food was plentiful and good, not great. I hope this helps.
My wife and I took a cruise last August on the Facination. On the last day of the trip, we decided to hit the "Adult Only" area for some sun and relaxation. We went into the pool and there were kids jumping off the sides and splashing us. We didn't like that, and moved to the hot tub. Some guy was in there with his one year child who was sick with a cold. The child kept sneezing mucus into the water. It was really nasty. To make it worse there, there was a security guard close by but did nothing to keep the kids out. We were really upset that kids were allowed into the "Adult Area" but didn't want to raise a fuss with anyone or to create trouble on our vacation. If Carnival has a place for "Adults Only" the should keep it for adults only.
I do not believe carnival upholds any rules or laws on board ship.... I had a great time but no rules were followed or upheld. The ship list 2052 passenger capacity, however, the Cruise Director Skippy bragged that there was 2500 passengers, and 1000 staff, can you say OVERCROWDED??? I guess anything to make a buck!
I did have a great cruise, but if you are looking for relaxing, refreshing, recharging quiet time, take another cruise line. We had non stop fun w/o any real sleep due to the obnoxious drunken kids banging and yelling all night long...
They discourage kids in the casino, and of course they would not be allowed to gamble.
A couple of years ago we were out around the pool. There were three or four older teen-young twenty year old guys who were cutting up pretty bad. They were actually asked to leave the area, and even though I don't think they actually left, they did tone down the horse play.
I agree that Carnival seems to carry the "fun-ship" theme a little far. But as long as it doesn't keep passengers away, I can't see it changing.
My wife and I just returned from an 18 Day South American Cruise on the Splendor. We did the final leg of this repositioning cruise from Valparaiso, Chile to San Francisco. I would recommend if you are looking to go on a cruise where quiet and relaxation are a must, then take a cruise that is at least two weeks long. In general, the longer the cruise, the older the crowd. On our cruise, it is safe to say that it was pretty much an adult cruise. Finding some excitement was a problem, especially during the night at the clubs. Don't get me wrong, we still had a great time, but you could count the number of teens on one hand on that cruise. Probably the same for any 20, 30, or 40 year olds!
