Default FLL airport to Port of Miami

I posed this in another forum but wanted to get the opinions in here as well. I just rechecked our tickets and we are flying in to FLL rather than Miami. What is my best travel option to and from?

I've heard taxi rides from FLL could be as much as $90

We have done that several times. Usually costs between $25-$35 depending on the traffic. However, when you leave the airport to get the cab ask the cost before getting into it.

SO there is no need to book super shuttle or anything, I can just ask the cab rate to the port?

Will i be able to get the same rate from the port back to the airport?

A taxi ride would cost anywhere from $70-90 depending on number of people and other factors. I did the Carnival shuttle in December for $30 pp one way. The Go Airport Shuttle may be around $20-30 pp but you may have to wait until they have a full shuttle to leave, same as the Carnival Shuttle. A private car would cost approx. $70 plus tip for up to 3 people. You can do the private car right outside of baggage claim, just look for the Go Shuttle desk. Hope this helps.

Back in June my wife and I used Go transporation from Fort Lauderdale airport to the port of Miami. The fare was $18. /p (plus tip) and worked quite well. After we securing our luggage we walked outside the doors and found the representative. We only waited about 10 minutes for the shared van and the ride took about 45 minutes to the port. It was much quicker (and less expensive) then waiting for the Carnival transfer. However, we did user Carnival's transfer back to the airport post cruise.

My wife and I both love FLL airport, and prefer it over Miami. The reasons, it's smaller, less of a hassel, and the flights have a better on time record.

Have a pleasant trip.

We used the GO Shuttle Meet and Greet once. The driver met us at baggage and took all of our bags out to the car. We were staying the night at a hotel about half way and the cost was less the $50 plus tip. Another $35 taxi got us to the port the next day.

So if i'm using go transportation do i need to reserve something in advance or can we just walk up to the representative after we claim our bags?

It sounds to me that we could find a fair for the 2 of us between $40-$90, haha, kind of a large gap but seems reasonable.

You can walk up to the rep right outside of baggage claim, no need for reservations. If you want, you can call their number at 1-800-244-8252 if you want any more info. What time does your flight get into FLL? Any arrival after 2pm will be cutting it close.

Excellent, i might call anyway just to confirm the rate in advance. As i said somewhere else, i'm a firm believer in the better safe than sorry mentality, we get in at 9am so timing should not be an issue.

My wife and I are also flying into FLL airport for our May 10th cruise. We have done this before and we used SAS transportation. They're quick and cheap- $15.00 per person from FLL to Port of Miami and will return you to FLL airport when the cruise ship returns for the same fare. Their web site is www.ridesas.com [/b]
