The Carnival Fantasy will be going to Mobile in November 2009. It has been extensively renovated with several new features.

and i honestly cannot wait until the fantasy gets here. im currently working on getting a cruise in this december on the fantasy. im shooting for december 5th because the rates are wondeful for 4 of us =)

I was on the Holiday 25 April. More than one member of the staff said that they love Mobile and the classy people who get on there.
I was impressed with the hospitality of the Mobile shore staff. Good job Mobile ! 8) An easy drive from Mississippi

Thanks for your reply. We have cruised on the Triumph before and really enjoyed her. Haven't been on the Fantasy so we will have to check her out.

I have family living in northern alabama and i dont think that i could ever get that far from the beach..much less that far from a cruise port.. haha ive also went as far north as virginia beach and lets just say if i lived that far north i would definitely be having withdraws.. sweet tea and common courtesy are definitely missing. i could not stand how people acted..

speaking of sweet tea...I think if the "Fun Ships" are to sail from Southern ports that they should offer pre-sweetened tea.
The Italians have their wine. The Germans....beer, and the Scots whiskey. In the South it's sweetened tea. Growing up we drank it with every meal and snack.
No...I'm content with using the blue or yellow sweeteners. Before the days of Nutrasweet or Splenda, sugar just would not dissolve in cold tea.

i use to drink sweet tea out of my sippy cups! i was born and raised around it and i think that carnival should offer it as well.. i dont drink soda's because they make me break out like no other so im just left with juices.. but i guess not everyone likes pre sweetened tea so idk. =( i think its a wonderful idea though haha

I guess NOT Go outside of the Southeast and many never heard of pre-sweetened tea. Some places I had to drink this raspberry tea from the soda fountain. The things we do just to survive.

This is unrelated to the original quote, but since you were recently on board the Holiday can you tell me which shows they were doing on the 5 night cruise?

We have sailed the Holiday several times - she was our first ship and while we prefer to sail a newer/larger ship we did want to get one last trip on her before she is retired. Due to the itinerary changes to Key West and Freeport, we snagged a great last minute deal for May 18.

Two very good shows, one called "Shout" which had a primarily a rock N roll theme. The second production show was a tribute to Country/Western music.
Both seemed garner the guests' enthusiasm, due to the familiarity of the songs.

Thank you. They are good shows and I have seen them both several times on various cruises. It is a shame that Carnival does not change up their shows more frequently though.

We will have a good cruise anyway and will probably catch one of the shows again.

That true, they don't always change up the shows do they?
As I recall the Valor in 07 and Destiny in 08 had the same show. A good one, I might add.
For a ship to change production shows don't they need to go into dock to change out the backgrounds and so on?

I don't know if they have to dry dock for this or not. I don't think the Fantasy changed its shows after its last update in dry dock last year. Most of the shows I have seen appear to have very portable backgrounds that could easily be trucked from one port to another. Maybe someone else has more knowledge of how this is done. It would be interesting to know how they make these changes and how long they typically run the shows on each ship before changing them. I know that when we were on the Grand Med cruise May 2007 the shows they did were new, but I have now seen them on other smaller ships a couple of times.

Fantasy will take the place of Holiday late this year........think in November? We have cruised on Fantasy 3 times in little over a year and we love that ship. Great size and crew each time we were on.

According to 2009/2010 Cruise vacations brochure....The Carnival Fantasy will sail initially from Mobile on 10 November 2009 .
The Holiday's last Mobile cruise will be 2 November 2009. Then she must be headed to Spain and out of the "Fun Ship" fleet.
Something cool is that the Fantasy will be sailing on 7 day cruises to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, & Cozumel from Mobile on 8 & 15 May , 3 & 10 July, and 23 & 30 October 2010.

We have a 7 day booked on the Fantasy (May 8 2010) already but after 15 cruises with Carnival, we are considering changing to another line for our next cruise.

Our first cruise Sept 06 was on the Holiday out of New Orleans and we fell in love with cruising. We have sailed the Holiday several times as well as the Fantasy, Sensation, Celebration and Freedom. A few weeks ago when Carnival announced that the Holiday would divert to Freeport/Key West for a couple of cruises, we booked a 5 day on her and sailed last week (May 18). Due to severe weather it was a rough trip and we were unable to dock in Freeport. The ship was still in pretty good shape for its age and size, but we felt that the food was not quite up to par this time. The worst part (other than the unavoidable weather and rough seas) was that our cabin (E-61) had no hot water 3 of the 5 nights when we were dressing for dinner. One of those nights I even went to the shower in the spa/gym area and there was no hot water.

Another reason we are considering a change in cruise lines is because Carnival's shows, games, routines menu etc., never seem to change.
