Default Chankanaab Park good or not?

We are looking for a place to go in Cozumel. Just wanting to know exactly what's there, included. Is there somewhere else we should consider? I have seen several post on Mr. Sancho's. We just really want to relax. 8)

We LOVE Chankanaab Park!! Easy to get to - SAFE - reasonably priced - a little of everything. Food, beach, dolphins, shops, ruins, AWESOME snorkeling, rentals, etc. All in all - a wonderful day in Cozumel!

I agree chankanaab park is worth the entrance fee, alot of activities, we have been there 4 times if you snorkel or can scuba dive there is equipment available for a small fee the water was always clear and if you dive or snorkel well enough there is a cave with fresh water coming out of it and some big fish with eyes that seem to light up it is down the beach a ways from the entrance. sorry so long but it is a nice place.

Where exactly is the cave!! I've never seen that!!! I do love the statues that are there - scared the %$#$ out of me the first time I encountered them - but pretty awesome. Glad they are still there since the hurricanes!!

If you do the dolphin encounter whereyou walk down into the water on a sunken walkway, wear water shoes. It was neat, but about killed my feet.
Had a neat experience where there was a little girl next to me who was afraid of the dolphin. It would come up to each person for a kiss, but when it came to that little girl, it actually made cooing noises, talking to her. I know that it knew she was scared. It was so neat. Have a great time.

If you're wanting to RELAX you might want to try Nachi Cocum. It';s $49 to get in but it includes food and all your drinks. They only let 100 people in there a day so it's not crowded.
But they have a large freshwater pool with a swimup bar and a little area where they do beachside massages.

Mr. Sanchos on the other hand, is an island party. I don't think there was an entrance fee and the SOL beers were only $1. THere's a little flea market there too.
They have a freshwater pool there to but it's really small.

Default just got back from cozumel/chakunaab park

Thumbs up on the park. It had something for everyone. Try the restaurant closest to the dolphins. We had the steak taco's. They were soooo good. I did the dolphin experience. it was cheaper at the park than on the ship. 99. Be sure not to pinch pennies on the dolphin introduction, if you can swim, do the one where you can swim with them. They are wonderful. Just cant say enough about this park. Clean, fun, good snorkling even on windy days.

If you can spend $20.00 and bring your own. Don't like the idea of putting a used snorkel in my mouth. We plan on going in December.

divers-supply.com has some nice snorkel sets with the premium masks, snorkels, and fins starting around $40ish, along with a buying guide. I recommend buying these over the el cheapo sets at Wal-Mart as these sets are the better made brands and will last much longer. I am not a snorkeler, but do plan to do some scuba diving on my vacation and would never trust the equipment at a department store to be safe. There are name brands that will last and be safe. Also, you can call a dive supply shop(there is probably one near you) and ask them for recommendations on brand names and they should be able to help.

As far as what I am going to do in Cozumel, I am gonna tour the ruins since I have an avid interest in archaeology. I will do the water sports stuff if I have time to after.

The cheap ones are good for a one time deal. If you what to keep it and use it over and over then I would get a better set. For the cheap ones you can go to Sportmart or some other type of sport store. As far as fins the one's you rent are fine. I plan on leaving mine behind when I'm done.

I was assuming you were someone who has snorkeled before or was planning to more than once.

Then do keep the site I gave you written down. The site is most helpful for snorkelers and divers.

Thanks so much for all the information! I can't believe that we leave in 11 days I'm so excited! Is it easy to find a cab that will take us to the park?
