Default Any problems with....

After booking cruise, has anyone transferred their booking from a Carnival personal agent to a TA?
Did you have any issues, was everything switched over without a hitch?
Were you already paid in full or still making payments?

We are considering a transfer because we want to be part of a large group that will be on board.
Thanks in advance...

Transferring a booking to a TA is just a matter of giving the TA your booking's password. Now to tranfer your booking into a group booking is a bit more complicated and may involve you having to cancel your booking. The TA can take care of all of this for you once the booking is transferred.

The great thing is the Carnival TA does not lose their point for making the booking.

Yeah, that was the first thing I checked on. I didn't want my Carnival's
TA to get gipped.
But according to her (carnival) and according to the TA with the group, all I have to do is give him my booking number and password and it's a done deal.

I was just a little nervous we have already paid about 2,000 on it, just about done paying it off. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced any problems doing this.

Thanks for your input.

It shouldnt be a problem. I normally booked with my PVP and then transfer the booking over to my TA. This way both benefit from it.

You must do the transfer before you make your final payment. If your cruise is paid in full then you can't do the transfer to the TA.

Thanks for the heads up.... I only have one payment left but I've already requested the transfer...

Transferring was really the easy part. I am still making payments on my cruise and had no issue in transferring. My issues are more that I had to lead the travel agent into keeping up with the latest information like any good travel agent. It is a shame I do not have my agency going yet or I would have just booked through my own agency and received the commission and fewer headaches.

The moral of the story is: "Choose a travel agent carefully and wisely."

I have not found that to be the case. I have booked a couple of cruises (less than 60 days from sailing) where final payment was due upon booking. I did not have any problems transferring it to my TA.

I just tried to do it and was told that because my cruise was paid in full I couldn't do.

Okay, so I went for it.... I sent the email to my new TA to go ahead and transfer my booking.

Okay, but now I'm a little freaked out.... I just went online to Carnival and it says my booking has been cancelled... but even when I booked with AAA the first two cruises I was able to veiw my booking online.... what's up with that?
I put a call in and an email to my new TA, I hope to hear from her soon.

That is highly unusual. Sometimes a travel agent will cancel your booking then immediately rebook you, but that normally isn't the case. My biggest problem is that my travel agent wants to do everything the easy and fast way and not what is necessarily the best for me. Doesn't matter much since I am changing travel agencies after this booking anyway.

I just spoke with my TA and she explained that although carnival assured her it was a simple process, it wasn't.
Some issues came up like double the insurance and a penalty was added.
So she assured me they are fixing the problems and that's why I didn't get a confirmation from her yet.
Everything is still the same, cabin # etc.
Whew... a big load off my mind.

I have to wonder if you need to switch to the TA who is handling the group cruise at all. I should think that if you contact the group cruise TA and ask them to add your booking number to the list and explain that you booked the cruise a while before it was announced. They should be able to add your name/booking number. You won't get the better discount the new bookings get, but you will be part of the gropu. Your PVP can be notified that you will be part of the group cruise and it can be noted on your file.

Switching a booking to a TA from a PVP is easy, I don't know if the A will get the commission from the booking or the PVP will...but that is not for you to worry about!

Good question on who gets the commission. Would like to know the answer to that myself so I can set my policy on transfers.

Then I guess I will have to accept transfers to my agency. Sighs. What to do with all these extra clients?
