Default Port Canaveral Shore Excursions??

I was looking at the excursions listed on the Carnival site for Port Canaveral. Other places there are many things to do offship that you can walk to or take a cab. What is there to do at Canaveral besides the space center and a day at Disney? Thanks for your help.

First of all, the ones on the Carnival site aren't half of what is available. Only what the cruise line gets a cut of. Go to shoretrips.com and look through the Florida ones and you will find Port Canaveral. Don't underestimate the Space Center. From Orlando you have Disney, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens(Tampa), etc. Your choices aren't limited to only Orlando and Cape Canaveral. There is also Tampa and several beaches within an hour's drive. Best suggestion I can offer is to get the Frommer's Florida Travel Guide. I feel this to be a superior guide to Fodor's, though both work well. The Frommer's guides seem to have more detail to them.

Tampa is 2 hours away - a little farther to the Gulf beaches. You are a bout an hour south of Daytona and Daytona Beach if you are a NASCAR fan you can check out the track there.

But I recommend checking out my former place of employment

If you want an authentic old Florida experience you can rent a car, go out the the fish camp just west of Cocoa, take an airboat ride on the St. Johns River (it flows North!), and have some gator tail.

Kennedy Space Center is Awesome. We spent a day there after one of our cruises. It was worth the tickets.

Well, I was just guesstimating based on a map. Still, two hours isn't very far if you are staying overnight in the Orlando area.
