I have heard that you can bring your own coke/soft drinks on the ship. Can we take a 12 pack? Also, do we carry it on or pack it?
The language they use is "reasonable quantity". A 12 pk to me is reasonable. We usually bring 6 water and 6 sodas.
If you are driving to the port (not flying) then just pack it in the suitcases and let the porters get it to your cabin.
If you are flying to the port, wait to purchase it until you are near the port.
Maybe bring a small collapsable cooler and tip your cabin steward when you first see him/her and ask them to keep ice in the cooler for you to keep the drinks cold.

Depends on the cruise line, but generally 6-12 would be considered acceptable. Of course on an all-inclusive line taking your own would be a moot point.
Also remember you can pick some up in the ports and bring it onboard also.
Especially if you stop in Key West, which has a CVS right near the pier and a couple of other drugstores nearby.
Question:
If you pack these items in a suitcase, and your suitcase is locked, once it goes thru x-ray, do they try to open your suitcase to determine if these items are soda or beer?
Or do they just let it go if they see a 12 pack item?
