Default Just Returned From a Great B-2-B Cruise on the Conquest

We just returned this past Sunday from a fantastic back-to-back cruise on the Conquest. Embarkation the first week was very quick. No problems. The staff was very upbeat and friendly during our 14-days onboard. Our cabin steward was excellent...no complaints. The food on Lido during lunch and in the Monet Dining room was wonderful. We enjoyed our table and waiter so much the first week, that we asked if we could have him the second week also. The Maitre'D Ante took care of arranging that for us. Since this was our seventh time on the Conquest (3rd and 4th time since December), we only attended one welcome aboard show since we have seen all the production shows. We enjoyed the music around the ship. The group Blackjack was onboard again, and we always enjoy their music. The casino was fun...Stefon, the casino host, was absolutely wonderful. This is the fourth time we have been on cruises with him. He would stop by and talk with us every day. He was also great about buying us drinks. The other slot techs-- Nickolai, Alex, Constantine, and others were also great about talking and joking around with us each day. The first day of the second cruise, Joel, one of the casino bar staffers, came running up to me. He was so surprised to see that we were still on the ship! We joked with him about hiding on the ship the second week. He was never a bother, but always seemed to know when one us wanted something to drink. On Friday of the first week, I was playing Dueces Wild on the .25 Progressive Video Poker machines, and hit a natural royal flush for $2,250. So that was fun! The casino also sent us chocolate covered strawberries both weeks. The second week, mine was one of three raffle tickets pulled for a spin on the wheel in the casino. I won $50 on my spin and that was a fun surprise. The second week the hotel manager sent us a bon voyage fruit/nut basket in the morning. Then, a few hours later he sent us a bottle of champagne. Later in the day, we received a plate of chocolate covered strawberries with some white and dark chocolate candies included from Maitre'D Ante. Then that night at dinner, M'D Ante also sent us a wonderful bottle of champagne! We were further surprised when we got back to our cabin after dinner and found that M'D Ante had also sent us a Bon Voyage photo album box with two picture frames and a small photo album inside (very nice). We were overwhelmed. Our cabin began to look like a Carnival Gift shop during the week! On top of that on other nights during both weeks they delivered the plates of chocolate covered strawberries and petit fours since we are platinum. Needless to say we overdosed on chocolates! Several times during the cruise, we ran into waiters from some of our previous cruises, and they all stopped to chat with us. One was very excited, because we were his first "repeat" cruisers. It was very hard to leave the ship that last day. We felt the staff and employees of the Conquest went out of their way to make this a great vacation for us. It was just perfect. I think anyone who will be sailing on the Conquest in the future will be very pleased. Also, they are working on the Mongolian Grill now, and it is supposed to be finished in about two weeks. Both weeks we had good weather, I think it was the first week that was just a little cloudly in Jamaica, but no bad weather. Coming back into Galveston the first week the Conquest was delayed. Around 6 a.m., it felt like the ship was not moving, I looked out and realized we had stopped. A little while later, the CD announced that Galveston had gotten some bad storms and the port had been closed to all incoming ships. He told everyone to just go back to bed that we would not be getting into Galveston until 10 a.m. or so. Since we were not getting off the ship, that was fine with us. I caught up on my sleep. We we were told to come to the Lobby Deck when they made the last call for everyone to leave the ship. It seems like that might have been around 11:45 or so. An officer walked us out to customs, and then we were back on the ship in about 10 minutes. Anyway, it is so hard returning to "normal" life.

Sounds like you had a GREAT, and PROFITABLE cruise. Back to Backs are a lot of fun for the reasons you spelled out. The staff is so surprised to see you still aboard,,,,and want to do something extra for you. I guess you'll just have to book "Conquest" again, so you can surprise all those nice folks one more time. 8)
Welcome home.

Yes great ship. Sounds like you had fun especially in the casino. Did you do the Eastern and Western itineraries? That would be fun.

Seven, eh? We are even now, but your pace may overtake me. Join the CruiseMates group on January 17th on Conquest. Great Rates. Lot's of fun on your Favorite ship!

Sounds like you got the royal treatment. Love the Platinum status huh? I cant wait to do a B2B. Need more time and money to do it though. I really want to be able not to have to deal with debarkation at the end of the first week. A few minutes of walking off and back on the ship would be awesome.

Snoozeman--We just did the Western itinerary twice. We had booked the cruise for April 19 back in June 08. In March, we decided to add on the additional week. Both the week before and the week after our original cruise were doing the Western itinerary. I think the Conquest does the Eastern again on May 17.

Our cruise pace will slow down now. We have a four week land trip coming up. We don't usually take many cruises in the summer since my husband has a lot of business trips during that time. Your cruise on 1/17 sounds very tempting. I know you guys will have a great time. BTW, does the 1/17 do the Eastern or Western? Either way it would be fun for me...I just enjoy being on the ship even if it goes no where! Conquest...take me away!

briguy--The easy embark/debark is one of the Platinum perks we most enjoy.

Aussie Jan--Lucky you on your upcoming B2B. Oh, how I wish you could fit me in your suitcase! The folks that handle the Platinum/VIP embarkation in Galveston are very good. Happy cruising to you. You will love the Conquest. I so miss all that pampering. It is so hard to adjust back to life on land!

Sherrie;
Sounds like you had a great BtoB on the Conquest.

We have a BtoB scheduled for next Feb. on the Ecstasy. It will be 2, 5 days in a row. We are not Platinum, so no VIP treatment.

I was wondering how they handle your S & S account. Do you settle your first leg account, and set it up again, or just carry it through?

We of course have the same cabin for both legs, because that would defeat the purpose of doing a BtoB. Any pointers you can give us would be greatly appreciated

Again glad you had a great cruise
Thanks
Gary I.

Gary, if you don't mind me commenting...You should get some goodies on the 2nd leg of the b2b. I too am Platinum and sometimes it does get confusing on the b2b as to which were the Platinum goodies and which were the b2b goodies. You'll probably get strawberries and something else as a "thank you" for second half cruise.

Snoozeman;

Thanks for the info. We are so looking forward to this BtoB. It is such a bargain. I do realize we will be doing the same ports, but that is OK. We just so enjoy being on the ship. This will give us the opportunity to have time to do some things we may not be able to do on just the 5 day.

Again thanks for the info. I will humbly accept any and all perks they want to bestow .

Thanks Again
Gary I.

Hi Gary,

I know you are going to enjoy your B2B on the Ecstasy. It sounds like
fun. I think the new additions (water park, etc.) will be on the ship when you go. As Snoozeman stated, you should get some type of welcome back gift the second week. You will be platinum before you know it. For us just being on a ship is VIP treatment! But--we always appreciate any little extra perks.

About the S&S card, you will settle that as usual for the first week. They will set it up again the second week. In the past on our back-2-backs, a ship's officer will escort you off the ship to customs and walk you back on. They normally have you wait a few minutes in the lobby area while they process new S&S cards. They will run your credit card again at that time. An easy process that just takes a few minutes, and then you are free to roam the ship or whatever.

I agree with you...I just enjoy being on the ship. Sometimes for us the ship is the destination! We have found B2B's to be very relaxing. Like you said if you are visiting the same ports, you can choose different activities each week. The same goes for the food and entertainment. It allows you to make different choices each week. Enjoy your cruises! We might be on the Ecstasy on December 12th...one of our sons will be on Christmas break from college and he wants to go to the ruins in Uxmal which I think is only offered through Progreso.

Happy Cruising!

Sherrie
