Across a crowded room........
Is it just me, or, does this happen to you? You are in a crowded room, with many different conversations going on, and you suddenly over the din, hear the word, 'cruise" and it's like a magnet, pulling you to the speaker
You want to know, where, when, what ship, and if the person says, I don't know, yout toes curl, cuz, we would know all the scrumptious details
I know, in my store as well, if a customer says, they are cruising, I can't wait to hear all the details, even from a stranger
We are so hooked, aren't we

Yep--the words cruise, cruising or ship will get my attention rather quickly.
I always feel like asking what ship they're going on, which itin., etc.
But too, have you ever heard someone say their going o a cruise and when you ask them which line, ship, etc. they can't remember or don't know?

Funny, how we can pick up that one word, no matter how noisy the surrounding area is?? Very weird, but know what you mean.

I think it's a woman thing. Women have the ability to listen to more than one conversation at once, which is why they hear these "key words" across the room, while men can only concentrate on one thing at a time.
BTW, I'm exactly the same!

OMG - thought it was just me.
If I hear someone was on a cruise I need all of the scoop. And then have to tell them my cruise stories.

HEY, I resemble that comment. Seriously, all my customers know that the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) and I cruise a lot, and they all, without exception, ask me for recommendations about different ships, and cruise lines. It's amazing how the word gets around isn't it? I too hear someone talking about a cruise, and MUST hear what is said. Yep,,,HOOKED on CRUISING for sure.

It's called A-D-D-I-C-T-I-O-N
But isn't it a gret addiction? Gotta be on a ship or have one scheduled on the horizon to be satisfied. Right now I have two and I sail in 5 days - Woo-hoo!

What is so great is that the cruising public, for the most part, are really great people! I love to talk cruising with someone and compare notes and experiences!
I read somewhere that only 20% of Americans have ever cruised. I believe that is true and that makes all of us a kind of Fraternity or club or what have you.
Have you ever been shopping somewhere and the song "Hot, Hot, Hot comes over the loud speakers? Always put's a smile on my face. My wife and I saw the movie "Beverley Hill's Chihuahua" and that song came on and we just looked at each other and smiles like "yeah baby, bring on the cruise!

The song that gets me in cruise mode is Kokomo by the Beach Boys. Bermuda, Bahahamas come on pretty mamas

What a funny thread....and very true. I can hear the word "cruise" or anything about cruising from one end of a mall to the other. And, if asked anything about it, you can't shut me up. The only treatment I am willing to consider for being a cruise junkie is to take so many of them that I get tired of cruising. Yeah, right, like that would EVER happen.

So glad to know I am not the only one afflicted with this malady. I can hear the word from amazing distances.

I had to giggle at this...
Husband and I are going on our first cruise this Thursday!! (( YAY!! )) Anyway - he was on the phone with a guy friend of his - last night. Well they usually talk about "man stuff" - hunting, fishing, hutning dogs - stuff like that. Well when Dale told him about our cruise - his buddy talked his ear off for about 20 minutes in cruise stuff. I thought it was cute!! lol
And just a question - he told Dale to stay off the top deck unless he wanted to see some nude sun bathers.....??? Ummmm?? Is this common?? or did his buddy just happen to be up there at the right ( or wrong - depend on how you look at it ) time?

I think that is being phased out. On the Holiday that area is now a minature golf course. In the past I have seen the nude to simi-nude sunbathers.

It used to be that Carnival had a topless sunbathing area. But, as said, they are changing these over to mini-golf, which no one used on our last cruise. MUCH more popular before.

Yea, those topless decks are no longer, they were by the funnel.

We usually buy a couple of t-shirts on each cruise. I love it when people ask us about cruising because of our shirt! I have had lots of conversations with people who are cruisers or that want to cruise. I have even talked with a few folks who say they would never cruise (so why tell me that?). I can hear the word ship or cruise, and sometimes maybe even a ship name and I am trying to find the source. Of course it is just so I can acquire more cruising info!
Happy Cruising!

I overheard a group of people talking about a "cruise night" on a local parking lot. I went down there at the appointed time and the only thing there was a bunch of old men with their old cars. What a disappointment.

The song "Girls just wanna have fun" gets me going I had that song programmed as the ring tone on my cellphone. It seemed like everytime I was in Walmart they would play it and I would be scrambling to find my phone
Another favorite is "Somewhere beyond the sea" from the old Carnival commercials. I have actually put in writing in my safety deposit box, with my will and life insurance instructions to have that song played at my funeral. I have even verbally instructed my husband, daughter and sister that I am serious about this.
