Default Fuel Fees Again?

If you havent noticed the cost of oil is creeping back up and is getting closer and closer to the dreaded mark of $70. Just wondering how soon Carnival will reinstute the fuel fees again. My guess is once it stays at $70 for a week or so we will all start paying $9 a day again. Didnt think it would happen so soon but it sure looks like it could anytime now. What a bummer.

Does anyone know the price? Going May 30, hope it holds out a week more.

I've noticed gas slowly edging back up--the Memorial Day holiday is here and summertime is now upon us so the oil co's are going to screw us again.
Wonder what the reasoning is this time--swine flu??
Maybe there's a chance the refinery workers will get sick and not be able to work, therefore slowing production so the oil co's have to raise prices just in case they have a loss later !!!
Maybe the dairy farmers should raise milk prices just in case it's a bad summer and the cows should go dry-- makes sense to me !!
Seriously folks, not much we can do but admit it-- the oil companies have us over a barrel and they are going to keep us there, at their mercy.

I have more respect for a thug who sticks a gun in my face and demands my wallet than I do for the oil companies who screw you a few cents every few days, slowly but surely.
I'd have more respect for the oil companies if they would just come out on t.v. and say ok folks--here's the deal--were going to screw you--starting tomorrow gas will go up by .50 cents a gal. Then in 4 weeks, another .50cents, or whatever they wanted. That way they'd be like the thug--up front about their robbery and not sloowwwlllyyy but surrrreellly sticking it to you.
To all the oil companies, we know you're screwing us--have fun at it--it won't last forever.

Default I'm going to fight it

I think that it is ridiculous that once someone is "locked in" and paid in full that carnival can say ooooh yeah, sorry but now we're gonna stick you for an extra 9 bucks a day per person, so that good deal you got on the price...too bad for you. For my 7 day cruise for me and my wife we would have to pay an extra 126 bucks forget it. I know what it says on their website but here is my argument, when the oil is traded, it is traded for 2 months in advance. So in the next month when oil reaches 70+ that oil is for the months of September and beyond. My cruise is in July. Does this make sense to anybody else. Its my only hope. If they stick me with the fuel charge, I am taking my auto pay tips away. I know it may not be fair to the room stewards or whatever but its not fair to me that I have to pay extra either, they're passing the buck onto me so I will pass it right back to them.

Ohhhh that makes perfect sense. Make the people who served you well on your cruise pay for the oil surcharge. You knew about the possibility of the oil surcharge happening when you bought the cruise.

It went down Friday to around $59.00 PB. Nothing you can do about it so just take it as it comes. It won't spoil my cruise. Carnival made it clear to everyone that if it goes up to $70.00 the surcharge would be back so no suprises here. Don't punish the crew they have nothing to do with it.

Have seen on numerous cruises any excuse to remove the tips of hard workind individuals to make your cruise more enjoyable. These same people will stiff those in a restaurant and have no remorse about doing it.How could you in any way say that the fuel charge should be related to your waiter or room steward?
