Carnival Souvenir "past guest" Pins?

Does anyone know if Carnival has discontinued giving out the "past guest" lapel style pins (they look like the carnival stack and bear the ships name)?

I have two Inspirations and was looking forward to getting one from this weekends Sensation cruise and also my upcoming Triumph and Legend cruises.

Thanks!

That seems to be what everyone has been getting told on the past few week's cruises.
Stewards have been scrounging to find a handful of leftover pins to give guests who ask.

Good luck getting yours, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

John Heald wrote in his blog sometimes in the last few days that the pins have been discontinued. There seems to be lots of interest in the pins so maybe Carnival will reconsider or at least have them available in the gift shop.

Damn - I was going to collect the entire fleet.........really!!

skymaster May 25th, 2009 05:03 PM

I got mine on the Triumph in Feb. of this year, so at that time they were still issuing them. A lot of people collect them, so I'd say that they'd be silly to discontinue them. I guess if they do, mine will be worth a lot more money.

Pins..

NOT sure if I can say this........but a certain auction site that starts with a E
has them for sale on bids? Just go to transportation then to "ocean liners and ships". Just a hint in case you want to try and collect all of them.

I hope that Carnival will keep handing them out.

Thanks;

funcruiser212 May 25th, 2009 10:45 PM

Personally I would like to see them continued, as I will be on my second Carnival(probably) cruise next year and wouldn't care to have an extra souvenir. Even if they start charging something like $5 that would not be a bad thing either.

They don't give out pins for the Sensation. Only on cruises of 5 days or longer.

It sounds like they are going to start selling them in the giftshops.

Got, mine on the Pride last month. Also, on my way to debarkation a steward had them on his cart in the hallway. People were grabbing them like they were money. Savages

Maybe that's where the ones on E-Bay are coming from!

Thanks - I checked E-Bay already and didn't see one for the Sensation. :(

Thanks again!

Thanks Bill.

Just 5-days or longer seems a little petty (code for cheap) for CCL not to give out a .35 cent pin to past guests who just spent a few hundred dollars to sail with them.....again.

Pocono Pug May 26th, 2009 09:35 AM

I got mine on Valor in Jan. It would be a shame if they discontinued the pins.

ShotoJuku May 26th, 2009 09:44 AM

Seems like they're still out there (while supplies last?) but I am curious if anyone has received one for a cruise LESS than 5-days?

great point ! :)

brad813 May 27th, 2009 01:03 AM

My thoughts on this is they are trying to cut back every where they can, and it looks like they are also trying to stop dealing with travel agents. It makes me wonder if the line might be in financial trouble and if they might start raising prices soon.

lovin_the_sun May 27th, 2009 08:01 AM

So we just ask our steward for them? I would love to get one too!

cruizin4sho May 27th, 2009 09:33 AM

So what does these so called "past guest pins" look like? I've been on 2 cruises since my first and have not received a pin. :(

To Brad813: Brad I think your thoughts about Carnival being in financial trouble are a bit premature. First of all nobody has said that the pins have actually been discontinued. It appears that for the short cruises they just don't offer them. I believe that all the other cruises give them out. I have always been given the pins with the invite to the past cruisesers' receptions. On a different note, I read where a cruise line saved over $40,000 a year by reducing the number of olives in a salad from 5 to 4. It seemed to be smart business not an indicator of financial troubles. Anyway, I do enjoy your posts. Keep them coming and hope you all have fair winds and following seas :D

brad813 May 27th, 2009 01:47 PM

Well, I have also seen another post where they are starting to disallow transfers to travel agents, so it makes me worry is all. I was simply saying that it could be a possible indicator if they continue to cut back.

I just booked my cruise with a TA and there was no indication that Carnival was stopping Ta from selling cruises. As a matter of fact when I booked this cruise Carnival was allowing them to give 200-240 OBC and 15% of excursions. Doesnt sound like they are having any issues to me

LeeandKelli May 27th, 2009 02:18 PM

Pug is right. We are in the travel business and we are seeing no sign at all that Carnival or any cruise line is cutting back w/there travel agents. I recall that Carnival had the biggest amount of sales in a 24 hour period in the companies history. We are a small agency, just Kelli and I, and sales have been just as good as in the past even with the current financial situation in our country. We are looking forward to good future sales.

There are some great prices out there! Hope everyone is enjoying there summer.

This is true, I got an amazing deal on a Cat 8G balcony and got some nice OBC perks and 15% off any shore excursion.

brad813 May 27th, 2009 02:57 PM

I am worried due to the fact I am just starting my agency. Possibly overreacting, but I would not want to see lower commissions or none at all from a cruise line. As I said, I am probably overreacting.
