Default passenger talent show...

Do the Carnival 4-night cruises have a passenger talent show? If so, what is the process you would go through to perform in it?

I don't usually do the 4 night cruises, but have done them before and just can't remember whether or not they have the talent shows. I cannot even answer your question about how the people are chosen for the show or if they just show up at rehearsal and volunteer. I recall hearing that on some ships that the passengers do that, and on others they are picked from the karoke lounge.

I have to say that the show we saw last week on the Holiday (May 18 - 23, 2009) had some exceptionally talented people and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I haven't done a 4 nighter in a long, long time, but can tell you that the 5 night, and the 8 night and longer cruises do have a passenger talent show. (7 night cruises have only the Carnival Legends show.)
The process that I've seen each and every time I've performed in the talent show aboard Carnival, is that they announce in the Caper that talent show performers will be selected at a given time and place on a sea day. They take the first 6 or so acts that sign up, regardless of talent! They don't allow any comics, or lip syncs, but almost any other act is allowed. (I once saw a guy who did the rubiks cube in 60 seconds) It's usually singers, and they are usually very good! I've seen them stretch the acts to 7 or 8 if they "feel like it", so your chances of performing are very good. If you're a singer, they will give you a list of songs that the band can do, or you can bring your own background music on a CD. The selection is excellent, and you'll be able to find something that you like, most likely. Good luck, and "break a leg".

ok, I'm not a singer (hell no) or anything exciting like that - my "talent" is my writing ability. I thought that a talent show would be a great place to read a few of my funniest, best poems.

The 5 night cruise sure has a talent show.
Of course one must actually be able to sing. I know I can't.
It's fun to watch anyway.

This is an interesting question. I'm booked on a four day cruise on the Sensation to the Bahamas. It's just my son and youngest daughter who's 14 (my husband and oldest daughter are not cruising with us). My youngest daughter plays the piano, and actually writes her own music. Does anybody know how old you have to be to participate in the talent show?

I've been on 3 4-day cruises and if I remember correctly, they all had a talent show night.

I don't know if there's an official cut off or not, but I've seen children who were probably 12 or so in the talent show. It probably depends on the cruise director to decide whether very young children can participate. Be sure to have them attend the "sign up" for the talent show, and I'd guess there's a good chance they can perform.

I think that the biggest treat for me during our vacation would be to see my daughter perform in front a live audience, even if it's just a quirky talent show.

Thanks for your response. I'll look into it once we're on board.
