WooooHoooo! Welcome to the Platinum club. Congrats on being able to get away in August!

That priority debarkation for tendered ports is among my favorite Platinum perks, my daughters though are all about the chocolate covered strawberries and the arcade tokens while my husband loves the laundry service. It's nice to be rewarded for being loyal.

Welcome to Platinum. There are lots of "little" things for the platinum members, and I personally think that Carnival takes better care of it's return guests than the other lines. (yes, we're platinum or better on most of the others as well.) It's a nice feeling when ships staff takes notice of the platinum card, and welcomes you back aboard. Just another reason I keep booking "Carnival".

I too enjoy Platinum status. The VIP embarkation is probably my favorite perk also. I have started to give away the thermos they hand out b/c I have several of them and don't use even one.

I never eat the treats they leave in the room and give those away also but it is nice. I don't use the laundry service because my clothing cannot be washed in bulk but it is nice to know they will take care of it if I want.

On my last cruise I never did get around to joining in with the casino tourament but that was my choice.

All in all, it is a good feeling to know that I am special!!

Little things mean a lot. On my last cruise on the Glory back in Jan. I was out by the pizza place and wanted a cold coke to go with my pizza. I walked over to the bar and asked for a cold can of coke. The bartender said he didn't have any cold ones and was going to get me a coke and glass of ice--- I laid down my platinum card and he said just a moment--disappeared for about 2 minutes and came back with a can of ice cold coke! Guess it was the Platinum card that did it.

If you still have your Slot or Blackjack tournament card...hold onto it and use it on your next cruise.

Congrats on turning Platinum!!!

You can see how many Platinum are on each cruise with you when you go to the Casino cage to get your free Slots/Blackjack tournament entry.

(Hubby won it last year...woo hoo)

Our 17 year old wears his Platinum card (with his Milestone Rewards Member logo) on a lanyard around his neck with pride!!

Platinum is great for 2 perks for the most part: Embarkation/debarkation and the laundry service. I had mine done every day last trip. The rest of the perks are trinkets and not worth much. Now give me free drinks and I am a member for life!!

I will enjoy the embarkation perk, but not crazy about the debarkation. I am never in a hurry to get off the ship.

Probably won't use the laundry on this one since it's just a 4 dayer, but it sure will come in handy on my longer cruises in the future.

Our group was on the Destiny a year or so ago. During dinner, our server was doing a wonderful job of keeping up with three large tables who all showed up at different times over a 30 minute period. I was watching this circus, noting to the wife how good she was at her job.
The head waiter came over and started giving her a hard time about the differences in service to the three tables, noting how some were on the entree' while others were on salad. I got a little red around the collar and asked the head waiter to come over and speak to me, which he did, while apologizing for the poor service. My platinum card was laying on the table so I picked it up, showed it to the headwaiter, and asked hime to go a little easy one of the best servers I had ever had. He got really meek, started pouring water, tea, and otherwise helping the overworked server get through a difficult time. Last night of the cruise, our server got a nicely padded envelope, while the headwaiter got a very thin one.
As we got up to leave, she stopped me, gave me a big hug, and thanked me for standing up for her.
The moral of this story is: YES, Platinum is a good thing, and noticed by those that really count.

How many cruises with Carnival must you have under your belt to become a Platinum guest?

You must have completed 10 cruises of any length to earn the platinum award and Carnival needs to adress this to award those who book the longer cruises as we only got 3 cruise for our 49 day cruise in Jan. On Holland they count the number of total days which makes much more sense.

Incorrect, you are Platinum on your 10th cruise, not after completing it. I agree they should count days and not trips. Why should 10 3 day cruises earn the same rewards as 10 7 day or longer trips?

You know, we (most of us), sit here and praise Carnival for how good it is. Then when they do something less stringent than other cruise lines for their customers, we whine about it!
Instead of whining, moaning and groaning because someone else got something for less cruises, try being happy that Carnival does do things easier for their customers. If you're so worried about someone getting to Platinum before you because they take 3 and 4 day cruises, lo and behold! Take some 3 and 4 day cruises and voila, you're PLatinum! And if you're already Platinum, is your ego so big that it bothers you that someone else is at your status with less days on a ship? Get real!

Dude, chill out huh? I was just making a comment. My opinion counts just like yours does. So when I make one you dont have to criticize it. I know I can take 3 day cruises. I am not an idiot even if you think I am. Next time dont be so quick to respond negatively.

Ok dude, ya got me. I went back and read and reread my post and no where in there can I find where I said I thought or insinuated you were an idiot. So In can only deduct that you think you are and idiot and expect others to think the same? Only you can answer that one.

And oh yeah, just like you, I was only stating my opinion. Happy sailing!

The answer is that Carnival is rewarding repeat business, not time at sea.
