Default 5 day cruises from New orleans or Galveston ( Carnival )

I have been on two 7 day on the conquest ( loved this ship and cruise) but this year our budget is tighter or needs to be i want to go to the bahamas out of
TX or New O, LA . but the price is about 2100 - 2300 for 4 of us. So i was looking to go on a 5 day at the least cruise but i do not want to be disappointed since they mostly go to mexico. and if i choose the lesser alternative i don't want to feel disapponted. If we do the 5 day it will be out of Galveston, tx in december. can anyone tell me about the boats , the formal nights ?

There is only 1 formal night. It is very similar to 7 day cruise formal nights. The Ecstacy and Fantasy are easier ships to navigate around on. I have been on both of those ships, and the Sensation, and had a great time. I have had great service on those ships also. There may be less food choices at the buffet. I can't think of a reason why it would be a bad vacation. Progresso is a good stop for the Mayan Ruins. I just returned from the Conquest and my wife said yesterday she would like to round out our summer on the Fantasy.

thanks i was up til 1 am trying to decide. i love cruise and brag to people about how affordable they are ! which they are you have to expect that for different destinations you are going to pay more. we decided to do the 5 days out of galveston, which will only cost us four 1200.00. so with our budget of 2300. we have plenty of money for some of the better excursions , pictures, and shopping ! we may spend a day or 2 in galveston and relax or go to sliterbahn ! and with the formal night we were so tried the second one and had been in the pool and ATV riding that we just did dressy casual. so i already have my 2nd formal dress from the cruise in 2007.

Carnival Conquest - 9/2003. Carnival Conquest - 12/2007. and Carnival 12/2009
