No Europe for Carnival until 2011

We sailed on the brand new Freedom May 2007 on the 12 day Grand Med out of Rome, Italy. We have dreamed of doing this again and hoped for spring 2010, but just found out that Carnival is out of Europe until 2011.

I know that Princess and Holland will be doing Europe next year, but we have not cruised on either of them before. Any suggestions or recommendations for this would be helpful.

Depends what you want to do. Norwegian Epic, HAL Nieuw Amsterdam, and Celebrity Equinox are all sailing out next year if you like that "new ship smell".

Where will Carnival be cruising in 2011?

PS. thanks. That explains why I couldn't find any Northern Europe trips for May 2010. This is actually good news since I'm planning my N.Europe trip for 2011

I had the same problem when I kept watching the website for a 2009 spring cruise in Europe. I finally called them to find out that they had no plans for 2010. However, they did not say anything about 2011. That is why we went ahead and booked the Dream for October 15 2009 at the last minute.

Really? We hooked up with 100+ people for that one on another Roll Call board and had a great time. Were you part of that Roll Call (Meet on Board group) then? Our sail date was May 1, 2007.

No, we went the end of May. Loved it! Now my group wants do Alaska next year and Norther Europe in 2011 (Visit St Petersburg). We will still do some Caribbean mixed in between.

Even though I've cruised regularly, I am new to the boards. Began reading some in 07 in planning for the Europe trip but I just started posting

I'd love to book a transatlantic with carnival, I had one scheduled for last spring that was canceled. A northern europe cruise would be fantastic too.
When do they post the cruise schedule for 2011?

I would check out NCL, Celebrity and Azamara. Because of the port intensive itineraries I opt for open seating dining and more open schedule of events so my top two are NCL and Azamara.

We actually went ahead and booked the Dream out of Rome for October 09 and, though we can't wait, we have a lot of details to tend to in a short time.
