Default Tip Using $2.00 or $5.00 Bills

We found on our last three cruises a unique way to reward our cabin attendant and dining room personnel for exceptional service. We took several new $2 and $5 bills with us. The new bills take up less space than old money and the thanks we got for an envelope of $2.00 bills was unbelivable. We saw the waiter and bus boy showing off the bills to other employees as we dined.A couple of $20 bills makes way less impression that 20 $2 bills.

I like the $2 dollar bill idea. I still get happy when I get a $2 bill. Thomas Jefferson on the front and the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the back. Thanks for the suggestion.

Interesting idea. A $2 bill is fun but if you talk to the crew they are hard to spend. In port or at home many do not believe they are real. They normally try and pass them off to other crew members before they go home or iinto port.

I am a waitress and I receive two dollar bills sometimes. It is neat. I save them for my trips. I use them for putting on a night stand at a hotel and I also leave them for the cabin stewarts every day on a cruise. Just a little bit of a extra appreciation from me. Also use them for the room service too. Being a waitress I take a wad of small bills for jsut such a occasion. Extra tipping feels good to do. Plus is nice to receive also. Happy cruising

There was a huge thread about this a few years ago. I believe that thought is really just talk. Every crew member I've ever discussed it with loved the $2 bill.

Canada got rid of the $2 bill many, many years ago!!! We now have a $2 coin......

I find it interesting at how fascinated you get about a $2 bill....it was norm for us until 95/96.......

We have $1 coins too. We got rid of the $1 bill in around 1987....

The small bills come in handy for tipping a little at a time...nicer way to show daily appreciation!
